Progress requires disagreement, but it does not require contempt. Learn to hold strong convictions without making an enemy of every person who disagrees with you. The betterment of mankind depends on our ability to cooperate across difference. That means arguing for your position with clarity and listening to others with curiosity. When we replace contempt with curiosity, we stop wasting our intelligence on fighting and start using it on building. Be the person who makes the room smarter, not smaller.
