John 8:12- Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Psalms 119:105- Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

The old saying goes “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.” How many times have you started to let God lead you then you get right to where you need to be and don’t follow through?

“A man came, one sent from God, and his name was John. He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

“This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites to him from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” And he confessed and did not deny; and this is what he confessed: “I am not the Christ.” And so they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” And he *said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” Then they said to him, “Who are you? Tell us, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” He said, “I am the voice of one calling out in the wilderness, ‘Make the way of the Lord straight,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.””
‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬-‭23‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

John the Baptist in the above verses never claimed to be anything but a voice speaking for God. You don’t have to be a pastor, missionary, or anyone special for God to use you. All you have to do is be willing to follow through with what God is telling you todo. Why would you go all the way to the water and not drink it? Get out of the drivers ed car with the brake on the passenger side, and get in the car without the passenger side brake and see where God will drive you. Let God take you where you need to be and follow through.

What does being a Christian mean to you?
Is it just a title?
Is it something you claim in name alone?
Is it your free pass to live how you want thanks to Gods grace?
is it where you find your identity?

Claiming the title of Christian should not be something that is taken lightly. Just like when you go out and you act like you have sense because people recognize you for your family’s name. Same difference, when you become a Christian and take the title you now represent Jesus. I wasn’t always the best rep. Buy a case of beer a day doesn’t look real good, but if someone asked me back then I’d still say I was a Christian. I was just one of those that was a Christian in name alone trying to take the grace of God for my own advantage to live how I wanted.

“For certain people have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into indecent behavior and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

“But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬-‭23‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

I heard someone say one time; when it says don’t take the Lord's name in vain. Was it only talking about curse words or does it broaden to taking the title of Christian?

This question and thoughts came to me while listening to “Feels like falling in Love” by Jason Gray. When Christianity felt more like a life of rules I thought no, but recently in the last few years I’m starting to understand what it means to have a relationship with Christ. Just like your spouse makes you want to change to be better, a relationship with Christ makes you want to change and follow his rules to be better

So I ask again what does being a Christian mean to you?

Faith

Isaiah 30

Reading this chapter made me think about how God always has your back in all things; to have faith and trust in Him.

In the beginning parts of this chapter he's talking about how the rebellious children are doing what they think is best, not what God is telling them is best. Then in the later parts ,he's talking about how blessed the people who listen are who trust and have faith in Him even though there are tough times. They don't give into false gods and false hopes. When you get closer to the end chapter in the book of Isaiah, it is talking about how they are blessed and how God is taking care of them because they had trust and faith in him.

Now lets put this into today's perspective. How often have you given into a false hope, a false sense of security, a high on the lies this world loves to tempt us with. Following God isn’t an easy path but a fulfilling one. It’s easy to come home after a long day at work and just slump back into a comfy chair, crack a beer open and not think about anything. Let all the problems in your life just drift away. Here’s the kicker, The problem isn’t gone. It’s still there and you will still have to deal with it later. Alcohol is just a temporary comfort that just ends up leading to more problems. Just like everything else this world wants us to give into or anything to lose sight that God can carry us through any storm. I don’t know what you put your hope into to comfort you. Mine was alcohol and it numbed me to my problems I didn’t wanna deal with. I don’t know what you’re doing to numb yourself from your problems but Gods telling us “Hey I’m here, you don’t have to numb yourself. Let me get you through it to the other side. Have the same faith and hope in me that you put into that beer and I’ll take care of that problem. I’ll carry you through it and it won’t be temporary comfort or security.”
