Mayor's Interfaith Prayer Breakfast - Lincoln, NE

Mayor's Interfaith Prayer Breakfast - Lincoln, NE The Mayor's Interfaith Prayer Breakfast of Lincoln, NE lifts up and celebrates the diversity of people, cultures, and faiths in our city.

Themes reflect the importance of coming together, learning from each other, and finding joy in a vibrant community. In 1985, a group of clergy and laypeople hosted the first interfaith prayer breakfast in Lincoln, Nebraska, which included Christian and Jewish readings and featured a local speaker. In 1991, the breakfast program reflected the growing diversity of faiths in Lincoln by including a Mu

slim reading. Morman and Buddhist readings were part of the 1993 program. The following years added Hindu, Sikh, Yazidi, Unitarian, Greek Orthodox, Baha'i, Native American readers. Keynote speakers through the years have included local church, government and community leaders as well as nationally recognized faith and non-profit leaders. During the COVID years (2020 to 2022) the breakfast was presented virtually.

2024 marked the 40th Annual Breakfast and featured a commissioned song "Love For All" composed by Sullivan Dutra and performed on video by choir members from College View Seventh-Day Adventist Church and community members.
