Dr. Ron Holt, leader in the LGBTQIA+ happiness and mental health world, will be presenting his book "Pride: You Can't Heal If You're Hiding From Yourself" and doing a Q&A and book signing.

Dr. Ron Holt is passionate about issues relevant to the LGBTQIA+ communities and travels the country providing education talks and mentoring to help people lead more authentic lives

Dr. Holt advocates for diversity and inclusion, emphasizing how and why it is so important to create a welcoming and safe environment for the LGBTQ+ community.

Join FaithAllyance and Dr. Holt on April 18th at 2:00 pm at Sower Books to hear about his story and book.

Our next faith community spotlight is Christ United Methodist Church!

Christ United Methodist Church has a long history of being a welcoming and affirming church for EVERYONE regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. We were making "good trouble" in the fight for inclusion before it was cool, and we continue to fight to break down walls that divide us.

We believe that church -- done right -- is more important now than ever. In a world where so many of us are feeling lonely, unseen, and disconnected, having a loving, open community can be a gamechanger.

Our church family is one where you can:
–feel seen and connected
–find purpose, serve people, and fight for justice
–ask big questions about God/spirituality without feeling the pressure to have to believe the "right" thing

We have many different opportunities to connect with others: regular social outings where we bowl, have game nights, share big potlucks, and host Husker watch parties. We have book studies and monthly meetings at a bar to discuss life's big questions. We have a group that plays basketball and discusses topics from our newfeeds and Audible libraries. We have built up relationships and systems and together do real good: meeting critical needs for others and lifting our voices to fight for justice here locally.

In 2021 we started a group that specifically advocated for the LGBTQIA+ community: Allyance. Allyance was founded on the principle that ALL people are loved by God regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Allyance held a Q***r Homecoming and a Coffee/Tea social as well as hosting guest speakers and showing up at Star City Pride. Allyance helped plant the seeds for FaithAllyance, which has now grown to be more inclusive --- working with many other faith communities all throughout Lincoln. We couldn’t be prouder to be part of this important work.

Christ UMC is represented by Pastor Andy Frazier. A fun fact about Andy is he likes to eat Taco Bell while picking up hitchhikers.

Christ UMC is also represented by Kaitlyn Michaelson. A fun fact about Kaitlyn is she enjoys going to Broadway musicals and has a musicals playlist that is 63 hours and 21 minutes long.
