First United Methodist Church Lincoln

First United Methodist Church Lincoln At First Church Lincoln, we strive to be a community where all are welcome, all are valued, and all are loved.

Grounded in faith and guided by compassion to living out an affirming and inclusive love - in our worship, our relationships, and our outreach. Brief History:
In 1887, three Methodist colleges in Nebraska came together to establish a new university. A tract of 3.5 miles northeast of Lincoln was purchased by the first Trustees, and a new town was incorporated as University Place. On November 18, 18

88, the First Methodist Episcopal Church of University Place began. For 15 years, the group met in college facilities. Lots were purchased adjoining the campus and the church met in their basement from 1903 to 1907. They returned to Wesleyan until the completed structure was consecrated on December 12, 1909, and dedicated debt-free a year later. We worship under the largest art glass dome in Nebraska, and we proudly proclaim the Risen Christ and are committed to diversity and inclusion of all persons.

🧱β›ͺ "Let every brick you lay be a testimony of faith in action."

This inspiring story from United Methodist News reminds us that God can do extraordinary things through ordinary people who are willing to serve faithfully.

After decades of worshipping under a tree, one congregation in Zimbabwe now has a permanent sanctuary thanks to the persistence, sacrifice, and leadership of their pastor, family, and church community. Their story is a beautiful witness to what can happen when faith is put into action.

Take a few moments to read this powerful article and be encouraged by the ways God continues to work through communities around the world. πŸ’›

🌈 What an incredible day at Star City Pride! 🌈

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who marched, rode on the float, volunteered at our booth, donated, helped prepare, and showed up in support of First UMC's participation in Pride.

Your presence was a beautiful reminder of our commitment to being a community of love, welcome, and inclusion. We were honored to celebrate alongside our neighbors and to share the message that all are welcome here.

Thank you for helping make this a meaningful and memorable experience. We are grateful for each of you and look forward to continuing this important work together. πŸ’œβœοΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

πŸŽ‰ We have something to celebrate! πŸŽ‰

At this year's Nehemiah Action Assembly, First UMC received the **Justice in Action 2026 Highest Percentage Attendance Increase Award**!

Thank you to everyone who showed up, raised their voices, and demonstrated what it means to put our faith into action. We are grateful for this recognition, but even more grateful for a congregation that cares deeply about building a stronger, more just community for all.

As we shared during worship on Sunday, this work doesn't end with one event. Stay tuned for future opportunities to get involved through our Justice in Action ministry partnership.

Together, we can continue to make a difference. πŸ’™πŸ’›

🧻 TOILET PAPER DRIVE FOR CONNECTION POINT! 🧻

This is the LAST WEEK that First Church will be collecting toilet paper donations to support ConnectioN Point Ministries right here in Lincoln!

On Sunday, June 7th, we are honored to welcome Rev. Katherine Ebling-Frazier, Executive Director of ConnectioN Point Ministries, to worship with us. ConnectioN Point serves our community in so many important ways through food assistance, clothing, support groups, ESL classes, parenting groups, and more.

One of their greatest current needs is toilet paper. When families receive food assistance, Connection Point also provides rolls of toilet paperβ€”and supplies are running low.

πŸ’› Want to help?
The next time you’re at the store, grab an extra package of toilet paper and bring it to church! Donations can be placed on the Social Justice & Outreach table in the southwest corner of the sanctuary.

Let’s come together to support our neighbors and β€œROLL” with it! 🧻✨
