August 14 is the Feast Day of St. Maximilian Kolbe. He was a 20th-century Polish Franciscan priest remembered for his courage and devotion to Our Lady. During the N**i occupation in WWII, he was persecuted then arrested and imprisoned at Auschwitz. He continued to act as a priest despite violence from the prison guards before volunteering to take the place of another man in the starvation cells. He often counseled others to “thank God ahead of time,” demonstrating a profound trust in God's plan. This motto became a foundational part of his legacy and continues to inspire the faithful to practice gratitude.
