"If love is not conquered, it conquers all things. Who can tell the force of love?"
He encourages conflict to be met with tenderness and sincerity.

Devastating wall of flood water!

Join us in prayer for those impacted by devastating flash flooding along the border of Nepal and Tibet today. We pray especially for the families and loved ones of those who have died or remain missing, and for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.

We can always count on UMCOR

UMCOR is responding to the urgent needs of Colombians impacted by the devastating earthquake that occurred on Monday, August 10, 2026, through support to the Colombian Methodist Church (CMC).

A solidarity grant to the CMC will provide humanitarian assistance to families in Cali who have been directly impacted by the earthquake through the distribution of food and essential household items. UMCOR's support will expand their reach and help them cover the needs of as many survivors as possible in the region.

We remain in close communication with the CMC and other partners in the region and stand ready to offer additional relief and long-term support to Colombia.

As first responders and search and rescue teams continue to uncover the devastating toll of this disaster, we lift up this section of "A Pastoral Letter for Colombia," written by Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr., president of the Council of Bishops - The United Methodist Church, in prayer:

"For those who grieve tonight, that they would not carry their sorrow alone.
For the injured and for the hospitals straining to care for them, that strength would be renewed.
For families still waiting for word of the missing, that hope would not fail before hope is due.
For those who have lost their homes, that shelter would come quickly and stability would follow.
For rescue workers and responders laboring past exhaustion, that their strength would not run out before the work is done.
For the Methodist church in Colombia, that it would keep bearing witness to God’s nearness even now.
May Christ's peace steady us, and may God's compassion move through us into action." Amen.

Praying for the students, staff and community

Please join us in praying for the Virginia State University (VSU) community as reports come in of multiple injuries following a shooting. At this time, details remain unclear, so there are no specific needs from our campus ministry there at this time.

We're not having an outbreak here yet... Vaccinations are essential to our health personally and for our community.

With measles on the rise in Pennsylvania and other parts of the U.S., the Chester County Health Department is reaching out to United Methodist churches to help raise awareness about the disease and the importance of vaccination. Terrible destruction...

Join us in prayer for people in eastern Washington state, especially near Spokane, who are under threat from wildfires. Pray that those who must evacuate do so safely. Pray also for first responders working to contain the fires and helping those in need of assistance. As Gov. Bob Ferguson stated, “If you are in the area, please continue to be vigilant and follow directions of emergency personnel.”

UMCOR is in communication with the The Pacific Northwest Conference of The United Methodist Church CDRC and stand ready to assist their recovery efforts as needed.
