Please take time to pray for this baby and family. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

This morning the echo confirmed that the baby is in heart failure. The function of his single ventricle is severely depressed. This puts a lot of the puzzle pieces together from the past couple of weeks. They are moving us down to the CVICU so he can start a drug that will help with his heart squeeze and hopefully help him feel better. They will put in a PICC line today or tomorrow. There’s a lot we do not know yet, but we know his heart is tired and needs help. Thank you for praying for him and all of us. We know we are in the Lord’s hands.

Paul Etheridge and his GOLD Pathfinder Missions team recently returned from an extended river trip into the Peruvian jungle with Missionary Ricky Hendon where they built two new churches in two jungle villages.

At the church dedication in the second village, the team encountered a witch doctor, a fierce looking woman. Ricky recognized her right away and was expecting trouble. However, when the invitation was given to those who wanted to accept Christ as their Savior, she was the first person to come forward for salvation. Everyone was completely shocked.

We give thanks to the team for their perseverance and their adventurous spirits to push through the difficult trip. We praise God for salvation among the villagers and for the two new churches where new believers can be discipled.

However, we do not recommend building two churches in one trip ever again. The length of the trip and the logistics of such an ambitious goal took a physical toll on the men.

Paul reports, “It was the end of the rainy season, but it rained almost every day. Lots of mud. Lots of insects worse than the missionary has ever seen. Our boat hit an underwater object in the Pastaza River, and it destroyed the new engine. We drifted to a small island and camped overnight. The island was covered with huge ant nests, and the ants had a fierce bite that could bite through a glove. Fortunately, all the men brought all the recommended equipment and we could purify our water and sleep up off the ground in the “Night Cat” hammock which has a built-in mosquito net and rainfly. We had plenty of food. We had StarLink communications and help arrived the next morning.”

Thankfully, the memorable difficulties of this project in Peru are not the norm for our Pathfinder Missions teams. Come with us to Cambodia or to the Philippines in 2027 to find your own adventures on the mission field. Both of these trips will be Silver projects, meaning you'll have a real bed for sleeping, bottled water for drinking, and "normal" food for meals.

Here are a few pics from the other team that went to Panama last month.

Missionary Terry Bell wrote, “This was a Super Pathfinder trip with future builders. We had to make a slight change in projects at the last minute and moved the team to another location. Pastor Edgar shared with us that he was praying for help. We called him to ask if we could help with the construction on the church and he was amazed that God answered his prayer so quickly. Thank you team for being flexible and willing to be part of answered prayer.”

Two teams were recently sent from Oregon to help with construction of a new church in Panama. Following is a testimony from a Youth Pastor who was on one of those teams:

"I was asked to speak on Sunday morning at the local church in Panama. We brought a student who is Hispanic but has grown up in America. He is nervous to speak in front of people, and he has never been a translator before. I asked if he would like to translate my sermon for the congregation and he nervously accepted the offer. We worked for a few hours Saturday night preparing for the sermon. The next day he was able to stand up there with me and translate the entire sermon. They understood what he was saying and he did it calmly and clearly. It was a big step in his life to step up there in front of a bunch of people and deliver the sermon for that morning. I know with God's help I wrote the sermon, but with God's help, the student translated and delivered it."

You would never know from all the smiles that these Pathfinders have been traveling for almost 20 hours already and still have more to go before reaching their work destination. Prayers for good health, safety, and productivity as they serve our missionaries.
