Over 3 billion people in the world live on less than $2.50 a day. Almost 30 million people live in slavery in 2014. WE can make the difference in the lives of these individuals. Our Mission Statement
The Fair Trade Marketplace is a venue for the sale of the work of artisans from around the world who are struggling to overcome poverty and escape slavery by receiving a fair wage in exchange for the
ir craft (“fair trade products”). The FTM is a nonprofit undertaking of Christ-followers that brings hope to those who are systemically oppressed by affirming their God-given value, fulfilling their desire to engage in meaningful life-supporting work, and showing them the gospel of Jesus Christ. One way to show the love and kindness of our Savior is through purchasing the products of those individuals for which they have been paid a fair wage, which the FTM works to make more easily accessible. Our Statement of Purpose
1. The FTM originated out of a belief that every individual is created in the image of God and has value (Gen 1:26&27; Psalm 139:13-16).
2. We believe that, as followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to have compassion on those who are hurting or marginalized (1 John 3:17 & 18; Prov 14:31). We believe that through the FTM, we can help the artisans making fair trade products to find purpose and to fulfill their God-given desire for meaningful work that provides for the physical needs of them and their families (Gen 2:15).
3. We believe that because God loves us and values all people, He wants them to spend eternity with Him. He has told His children to go into all the world and proclaim the good news of eternal life through repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ (Mark 16:15) and make disciples from every tribe and nation (Matt 28:19 & 20). Many of the organizations represented at the FTM are gospel-based relief ministries that share the hope of eternity through Jesus Christ while helping participants escape from slavery and break the cycle of poverty.
4. We believe that God has called us to host the FTM so that people know He is a God of love (1 John 4:8) and compassion (2 Cor 1:3) and that His followers are, too (Col 3:12). We love because He first loved us.
