72 years ago in September 1947, Sister Rose Mae Daniels and Sister Ethel Pearson organized the Federation of Choirs at the Second Baptist Church for the purpose of encouraging and enhancing the choirs in the federation. astor Reverend J.L. Simmons. Bethel Baptist Church joined the Federation of Choirs at the inauguration. The Federation of Choir’s first appearance was the first Easter Sunday Service held at the Elks Stadium, now known as Cashman Field. They met at each church once every fourth Sunday. A scholarship fund was initiated under the presidency of Sister Irene Parker to financially assist students (whose church was a member of the Federation) entering college, universities, or technical school. It was voted under Brother James Jones, and as a result, the Rose Daniels/Ethel Pearson Scholarship was established. As of today, the Federation of Choirs has given over $200,000 in scholarships.
