A weeks ago, my daughter Chi Chi and I released a song called "Girl Talk"

After the song came out, we decided to sit down and have a real conversation about faith, family, Catholic school, camp, youth ministry, and what it's actually like growing up with a dad who spends his life working with teenagers.

As parents, we're constantly teaching our kids. Sometimes we forget how much they see, hear, and learn just by watching us.

Some of Chi Chi's answers made me laugh. Some made me think. A few honestly challenged me.

This wasn't a podcast with an expert. It was just a dad talking with his daughter and learning from her perspective.

🗽 New York showed the world its passion this week.

The question is…

What if we became just as famous for serving as we are for celebrating?

I love this city.

The energy.
The culture.
The people.

But I believe NYC can shine even brighter when we choose purpose over chaos, service over selfishness, and discipleship over hype.

The world is watching.

Let’s give them something worth following. ✝️🏀🗽

🗽New York is different. 🌃

Different cultures.

Different neighborhoods.

Different stories.

One city.

This playoff run has reminded me why I love this place.

I’ve seen people from every background chanting together, celebrating together, hoping together.

The game will end.

The season will end.

But hope, unity, perseverance, and faith are bigger than basketball.

Tonight we celebrate.

Tomorrow we keep building.

Tonight, a lot of New Yorkers will be hoping for a championship.

And honestly, I get it.

Sports have a way of bringing people together. Different neighborhoods. Different cultures. Different backgrounds. Different stories.

For a few hours, everybody is pulling in the same direction.

But my prayer for this city is bigger than basketball.

Holy Spirit, come over New York.

Come over our families.
Come over our schools.
Come over our churches.
Come over our streets.
Come over the people carrying burdens nobody knows about.

May we be a city marked by hope, unity, perseverance, and faith.

And if the Knicks happen to bring home a ring too… we’ll take that. 🟠🔵🗽🙏🏽

God Made New York. 🗽🙏🏽

I wrote this freestyle sitting by the water thinking about the city that raised me.

The Bronx.
The train rides.
The bodegas.
The people trying to make it through another day.
The Knicks giving us hope.
The prayers nobody sees.
The stories behind every block.

New York isn’t perfect. We all know that.

But I’ve seen too much grace, too many miracles, and too many lives changed to believe God isn’t still moving here.

This freestyle is a reminder for anybody who feels like giving up:

There is still hope.

From the Bronx to Queens.
From Brooklyn to Manhattan.
From Staten Island to Jersey.

Christ is King of New York.
