Thiruvalam Lord Shiva Temple

"From the high spiritual flights of the Vedanta philosophy, of which the latest discoveries of science seem like echoes, to the low ideas of idolatry with its multifarious mythology, the agnosticism of the Buddhists and the atheism of the Jains, each and all have a place in the Hindu's religion.
-Swami

Vivekananda
The motive of this page is to create awareness among the Hindus about the declining followers of Hinduism and increasing tendency of neglect of religion. Various social and political causes have been responsible for the above mentioned trend. No religion in the world has seen such decline except Hinduism while other religions continue to grow at least in terms of followers. It is mainly because others spread their religion aggressively by one way or another, sometimes forcibly. But Hindus don’t spread their religion and in fact, Hinduism doesn’t ask any of its followers to spread it. This page also doesn’t ask anyone to spread Hinduism because Hinduism doesn’t need such methods for its survival. It has seen hundreds of years of invasion by various religions but it has survived till date and will continue to survive as long as the world exists. Therefore this pages aims only at eliminating the ignorance and misconception among Hindus and to conserve our proud religion. One important point, this page does not mean to offend people of any other faith. One of the important duty of a Hindu is to go to temple and worship God and involve in religious activities. But it has not been forced upon by Hinduism unlike other religions. Christians go to church on Sunday while Muslims pray five times a day. One thing which is of great concern is the trend among modern youth who rarely go to temple. Some think that god can be worshipped from anywhere. Some even go to such extent and say that there is no god at all. But when we are faced with any difficulty, the first thing we do is to pray to God and try to please him by making offers to God. We must understand that God cannot be bribed. A Hindu must force himself to worship God all the time in one way or other. We must be proud to say that we are Hindu. Swami Vivekananda took our Hinduism to the entire world and demonstrated how great and superior our religion is. "I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. Say it with pride : we are Hindus"
- Swami Vivekanand
As a small step towards that direction, this page hopes to create awareness by sharing news about our religion and about our temple activities. This page also request Hindus to be aware of the greatness of our religion and also request to spread it as much as possible among Hindus. History
