These two men are Pastor Johnny Baker & Pastor Fritz Descollines. We (Pastor Fritz and myself), sense an urgency to reach as many for Christ as possible in these last days. We believe that this world is seeing the last days of human history, and that the return of Christ for His church is imminent and may come at any moment. In John 5:25 Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is com
ing, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live." Our ministry that God has given us has three distinct elements to it that we feel are paramount to God's blessing on the ministry:
1-Evangelism
2-Discipleship
3-Humanitarian
Evangelism is the thrust of Hour of Hope as we evangelize through open-air crusades, revival services in our churches in Port-au-Prince, and preaching in the private schools. Discipleship follows immediately after a soul comes to Christ and is connected to a local church affiliated with Gospel of Peace Churches that were planted by Pastor Fritz. Each year in March there is a seminar held with our mission teams that disciple all age groups, from Pastors, deacons, S.S. leaders, adult ladies, youth boys and girls, and vacation Bible school. In 2013 Hour of Hope founded the Hour of Hope Theology School in Port-au-Prince with a three year curriculum for graduation. These students are trained theologically and in March 2017 we will graduate the first class. These men will be ordained and placed in churches that are planted in needy locations in Haiti. Humanitarian aid comes in differing forms, but specifically in our orphanage in Port-au-Prince which was started immediately after the devastating earthquake of 2010. Hour of Hope desires to have multiple orphanages in areas of great need, with the city of Mirebelais as the next targeted site. The children in the orphanages are taken to school each day in the main church in Tabarre and are clearly taught the Word of God while they are there. We reach them for Christ and teach them to serve the Lord. Once an orphan reaches age 18, they must leave the orphanage, but we take care to find and provide training towards a vocation they desire and is available. With unemployment in Haiti from 85% to 90%, it is a very difficult task but it is one we take seriously. Hour of Hope does not take teams for construction projects. Our belief is that the Haitians and their economy need the support, and that we raise the needed funds for any project but the Haitians should do the work. It provides money for the worker's families, and at the same time the Haitian economy is given a boost. With love the Gospel of Jesus Christ is shared, with love we teach them the commands of Christ, and with love we care and nurture the young of Haiti. This is the Great Commission fleshed out in the real world where there is no shortage of need. If you or your church wish to be involved with this ministry, then please contact us at any time and we will help you or your church to find that place of service that God has just for you!
