Happy New Year from Grace Church to all! The office will be open on New Years Eve from 9:30 to 1:30 as usual, but closed the rest of the week.
Look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday which happens to be Epiphany Sunday (commemorating the visit of the Magi to the Christ child). Communion will be served, and you can expect a rousing chorus of We Three Kings!

The painting below is by Botticelli, a famed Italian Renaissance artist who is probably more famous for his Birth of Venus or Primavera frescoes, but this is one he made to adorn a chapel within the Medici villa in Florence. Quite glorious, isn't it? We tend to favor a more modest view of the manger with the bare minimum of characters in the Methodist church, but those Renaissance Catholics knew no bounds in terms of staging lavish and ornate scenes like this one. The magi are actual portraits of Medici family members, and you can even find a self-portrait of Botticelli himself at the very far right looking out at us!
