God never tells us to erase our memories or act as if nothing happened. What He does call us to is genuine forgiveness, which releases bitterness and entrusts justice to Him. Forgiveness is a choice empowered by God’s grace, but it doesn’t mean we minimize the pain we feel or fail to set boundaries by agreeing to forget what has happened.

Join us Sunday, September 13 for the week 2 of our "God Never Said That" sermon series. This week's message is
"Forgive, Don't Forget."

The phrase, “God will never give you more than you can handle” is often used to comfort people, but it’s not actually in Scripture. God never promises to keep us from overwhelming circumstances; instead, He promises His presence and strength in the middle of them. Life will often serve up more than we can handle—but never more than God can handle.

The Psalms teach us that when God seems silent, prayer becomes the language of honest grief and stubborn trust. Since God already knows our pain and even perceives the inward groaning beneath our words, lament is not offered for his information, but for our healing, our surrender, and our steadying faith.
