Allentown Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting Allentown Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting

The Allentown Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting works with Catholic Scouts within the diocese and encourages a strengthening of their faith through participation in the religious emblems program. We believe that ALL Scouts should be living the Twelfth Point of the Scout Law of "A Scout is Reverent" and can show their devotion by working on and earning their religious emblems. Within the five

counties of the Allentown Diocese (Northampton, Lehigh, Berks, Carbon and Schuylkill) we have two Scout councils: Minsi Trails Council with the council office situated in Allentown, PA; and the Hawk Mountain Council in Reading, PA.

The long-awaited thorough revision of the Pope Pius XII religious emblem program is finally available to the Catholic Scouting community!

The Participant’s Manual (listed as the 2017 Edition) is available using one of the following three methods:

(1) Download from the NCCS Literature Online Order form on the NCCS website (About Us>Order Forms and Literature>NCCS Literature Online Order Link). Participants can download a copy for $3.00.

(2) Order a hard-copy via the same online form. NCCS will provide a printed copy via mail for $10.00.

(3) Purchase a copy from the BSA Supply Division or official Scout Shops. The availability and cost are not yet determined.

The new Pope Pius XII Facilitator’s Manual (2016 Edition) is available ONLY via the NCCS Literature Online Order form. Downloaded copies are $3.00 and printed copies are $10.00.

Use of the new manuals is highly encouraged. We recognize that some participants may have already started using the 2002 version and they should finish using that version. It was decided during last week’s NCCS Biennial Conference that all Scouts, Venturers, and Explorers beginning the Pope Pius XII emblem program on or after January 1, 2019, should use the new manual. No exceptions will be granted.
