In the Bible when King Saul was chasing David, hoping to kill him, David humbly compared himself to a flea—wondering why a king would bother sending out soldiers to hunt something so small. But just because something is small doesn’t mean it’s insignificant to God.

Take the flea, for example. Though tiny, it’s a stunning example of God’s engineering. Fleas can leap many times their own body length, and if you’ve ever tried to watch one jump—good luck!

A flea can jump 150 times its body length.
If a 6-foot human could jump with the same relative power as a flea, they could jump approximately 780 feet high

You might wonder if they have springs inside them. Amazingly, they do—sort of. Fleas are equipped with tiny pads in their legs made of a rubbery protein called resilin. These act like biological springs. The flea slowly compresses these pads, storing energy, and then releases it in a fraction of a second—launching itself into the air with over five times the energy muscle alone could produce.

This incredible design reminds us that God cares about every detail of His creation, no matter how small. And that includes you. The same God who gave a flea its spring-loaded power is the God who knows you, loves you, and wants a relationship with you. That relationship is possible because of what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross. Have you experienced His love?
