A lot of us ask the wrong question when it comes to following Jesus:

“Do I have to?”

Do I have to read my Bible?
Do I have to serve?
Do I have to give?
Do I have to obey?

But when faith becomes a relationship instead of a checklist, the question changes.

Instead of asking, “Do I have to?” ask:

“How can this help me draw nearer to my Father?”

The action may look exactly the same.
The motive changes everything.

We don’t obey to earn God’s love. We obey because, in Christ, we already have it.

Jesus doesn't simply offer another set of chains. He frees us to live as we were designed to live.

A lot of Christians are doing the right things for the wrong reason. We read, pray, serve, and give—but underneath it all can be the fear that we’re trying to keep God happy with us. The gospel changes the motive. We don’t obey to become His children. We obey because, through Christ, we already are.
