“Those that be planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; They shall be fat and flourishing;”
Psalm 92:13-14 KJV
This promise of God to those who truly follow Him is one of the most wonderful promises we can receive. It is a promise of not merely surviving, but of flourishing. The cost of true Christianity is large, but it also comes with benefits that cannot be matched!
Though the world will hate a strong Christian, he will be loved by God. Though the world lies against a true Christian, God knows the truth better than anyone. Though the world would try to destroy a Christian, he will receive the protection of the most high God.
This passage speaks of flourishing in the courts of God. Each of us know that, left to ourselves, we would have no hope of standing before God in His court. We have sinned. We have turned from Him. We have dishonored Him. But the fact remains, that He knows our hearts. He knows that though we sin, our desire is to please Him, and live for Him. He knows that though we get sidetracked and off course, our desire is to remain with Him. And because of the position of our hearts, He not only forgives, but He places His righteousness upon us.
And maybe the most wonderful promises in this life is the promise that we will remain fruitful, even in our old age. As we get older, we get slower. As the years go by, our bodies stiffen and become less agile. As we experience the hardships of life, our minds and our hearts tend to get harsher and less loving. But He promises to work around these things, and keep His people fruitful and multiplying.
Christian, if you’re having a rough day today, take a few moments to remember the promise of God given to you. Allow Him to use your position and circumstances today to bless you. Rest in the knowledge that you are serving a God who can turn your hardships into blessings, and the stiffness of this body into fruitfulness for Him.
The world has no power to stop what He wants to do in your life. Only you have the ability to hinder Him in your life.
