Thrudheim Kindred: Asatru Fellowship for East Tennessee

Thrudheim Kindred: Asatru Fellowship for East Tennessee This is the official page of Thrudheim Kindred of East Tennessee. We are an independent kindred not affiliated with any other group.

Thruðheim Kindred (pronounced throoth-hime) is an Ásatrú organization serving all of East Tennessee. Our geographical coverage extends from Chattanooga north to Oneida and from Cookeville east to the Tri-Cities area, with Knoxville in the middle. Our practice is family oriented and apolitical.

Ásatrú is an Icelandic term consisting of two parts: Ása referring to the gods and goddesses, and trú m

eaning true. Thus Ásatrú literally means true to the gods. The faith is sometimes referred to as Norse or Germanic Heathenry and may be regarded as an Earth religion much like Shinto and Native American spirituality. It represents the indigenous pre-Christian beliefs of the Northern Europeans. This included the peoples of present-day Scandinavia, England, Germany, The Netherlands, and Belgium, among others. Although the membership of Thruðheim Kindred does not subscribe to the "one size fits all" or universalist approach to religion, it does not restrict membership on the basis of color, race, gender, or sexual orientation. With the Solstice passed, the days gradually begin to lengthen again. Though many long, cold nights still lie ahead, may they find you safe, warm and in the company of cherished kin. Good Yule!

Feast of Thor 2019 - Thrudheim Kindred celebrated our first Blot of this new year over the weekend. Honor and thanks were given to our patron, Thor. It was a briskly cool East TN weekend, which made for perfect weather for our traditional January soup potluck and a variety of delicious and hearty offerings were enjoyed by all in attendance after the ceremonies. We hope this new year has found all of you equally warm and content as we were Sunday afternoon.

Good Yule to all!

On the weekend of July 21-22, 2018, Thrudheim Kindred gathered to celebrate our yearly Founding Day Blot. This year was a milestone event as it marked the Kindred's 20th anniversary. It was a rainy weekend in East Tennessee and our spirits were likely the only thing not dampened by the weather. Saturday night saw those willing to camp hold as soggy Sumble under a pop-up shelter. Nonetheless, Gods, Ancestors and the Founders were honored and the obligatory Kipper Time was observed. Sunday saw more guests arrive and a Blot was held that culminated with the attending members renewing their oaths on the Kindred oath ring. Happy 20th Thrudheim Kindred!

Due to some scheduling issues, we were unfortunately unable to have an HNO this month. Hopefully we will be back on track for July. Happy Midsummer to all!

12/22/2017

The Winter Solstice begins the Yuletide and marks the beginning of Sunna's ascent towards Midsummer. The cold, dark times are excellent for reflection and for enjoying the gifts of home and hearth, kith and kin. Good Yule and blessings of the season to all from Thrudheim Kindred.

This weekend, Thruðheim Kindred will observe Founding Day. Our kindred was established on July 18, 1998 and the July event is set aside each year to commemorate the anniversary of the Formational Blót. Hail the Founders! Happy early 19th Birthday Thruðheim!

06/28/2017

In observance of Independence Day, there will be no, Heathen Night Out scheduled for the month of July, 2017.

The first Tuesday will fall on the 4th and we do not want to conflict with the holiday and any family events.

Hopefully we will resume the first Tuesday of August.
