Ingredients
**For the Cake:**
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- ½ cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (toasted if desired)
**For the Cream Cheese Frosting:**
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-2 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)
**For Garnish (Optional):**
- Sliced bananas
- Chopped walnuts

# # # # 1. Prepare the Cake
1. **Preheat Oven**: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. **Mix Dry Ingredients**: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3. **Cream Butter and Sugar**: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4. **Add Eggs and Vanilla**: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
5. **Add Bananas and Sour Cream**: Mix in the mashed bananas and sour cream until well combined.
6. **Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients**: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
7. **Bake**: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. **Cool**: Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

1. **Beat Cream Cheese and Butter**: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.
2. **Add Powdered Sugar and Vanilla**: Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until well combined. Add the vanilla extract and mix. If the frosting is too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

1. **Layer the Cakes**: Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on top.
2. **Add Second Layer**: Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining cream cheese frosting.
3. **Garnish**: Optionally, decorate the top with sliced bananas and additional chopped walnuts.
