Greetings,
My name is Jamesetta (Jamie) Eisenstein. I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and now live in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. I graduated from Knoxville West High School and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a B.S. in Journalism. My career began with the federal government in Washington, DC, and continued to the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge. After many years in the federal government, I retired in 2005.
But retirement did not mean living a quieter life. Shortly after retirement in 2005, my husband of 25 years suddenly passed away from a heart attack. At this time, we had a 15-year-old daughter. Because of these changes in our lives, I returned to work part-time to support myself and my daughter. Once my daughter graduated from high school, she decided to enter the military. I then moved from Tennessee to Texas. Not only did I discover a new beginning, but I also discovered a deepening of my faith in Christ. Jesus had given me great strength as I navigated from being a wife to living as a widow. In this season of life, I found great spiritual comfort in knowing that God was always with me. Surprisingly, I met the man who would become my husband. We decided to leave the Texas Gulf Coast and return to the hills of Tennessee and married in June 2022. During my time in Texas, my faith grew even stronger until God guided me to enroll at Regent University and pursue my Master of Divinity degree. I am completing my capstone experience as an intern during the Fall semester of 2024 with Worthy Women Ministries in Knoxville, Tennessee, and my Masterβs degree in the Spring of 2025.
Why do I want to do my internship at Worthy Women Ministries? I chose Worthy Women Ministries as the place I want to serve for two reasons. First, while researching this ministry, I was impressed with its mission to help women discover their worth, identity, and purpose in Jesus Christ. As a woman who has grown up in what would be considered the inner city of Knoxville, I understand how poverty, lack of opportunity, education, and not having the resources available can affect women and their families. My mother was a single mother from the time my father died when I was 12 years old. While I was growing up, my motherβs faith and relationship with the church gave her the strength to deal with the challenges in her life. Therefore, the church is central to my life now.
I was impressed by Worthy Women Ministries' workforce service initiative, which partners the church and faith-based agencies with a successful franchise, Jani-King commercial cleaning company. This partnership offers women the opportunity to provide the sense of worth and identity that comes from the accomplishment of working and receiving a salary. Employment raises a womanβs self-esteem and purpose while providing a way to care for herself and her family. Worthy Women Ministries serves the needs of women in our community.
Secondly, I chose to serve my internship with Worthy Women Ministries because of the dedication to service through Christ that I have observed in its CEO, Mikhael Armao. From the first time I met her, I saw her compassion, commitment, and love for Christ and the women in our community. Because of these factors, I want to learn and serve women throughout this region through this ministry. I also want to attain certification in Mental Health Counseling through the American Association of Christian Counselors training.
I look forward to helping serve women throughout the community.
May Godβs blessings be with you.
