Listened to a sermon from Josh Howerton with Lakepointe this morning and it hit me in more ways than one. The question of the whole sermon was, Are you an unsaved Christian?
The sermon revolved around Acts 8 where this man named Simon did all of the outward things of being labeled a Christian but was still living a sinful life of sorcery hoping to just add Jesus to the continuings of his sinful life.
The point of this post is, are you a Christian who sees yourself as being a Christian because you’re a “good person”?, or see yourself as a Christian just because you go to church and got baptized?
In the paraphrasing words of Josh going to church doesn’t make you anymore a Christian than going to Biscuitville makes you a biscuit. The only way you are a Christian is recognizing your need for a Savior.
We all are absolute wretched sinners who inherently do bad things and I’m right there with you all. I was a po*******hy addicted alcohol drinking drunkard who had a very lustful life style. But GOD sent His Son to pay the price of the very sins that I committed against Him.
Do I still struggle daily? Absolutely with many things such as anger and impatience at times, but the righteous man may fall several times, but then he rises (Proverbs 24:16).
So, I’m asking you today reading this post..Don’t wait, and allow the Holy Spirit to come in and change your life to follow Christ. It will be hard but I can promise you the reward will be eternally worthy of it all.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me. So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and in difficulties, for the sake of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. ”
