🧬 The Anatomy of Order (Why you can't be the Nervous System if you were born to be Muscle)
We often say "we are the Body," but we rarely respect the biology of it. We live in a culture that tells us everyone should be a leader, everyone should have the microphone, and everyone’s function is the same.
But look at the human body—the most complex machine in the universe. It doesn't work by democracy; it works by Design and Order.
Think about what happens when you decide to take a step:
The Head (Christ): The decision originates here. The Head has the ultimate authority. The foot doesn't decide to walk; the Head decides.
The Nervous System (Apostles & Prophets): These are the high-speed wiring. They don't move the rock; they transmit the signal. Their authority is found in their connection to the Head. They carry the impulse, the warning, and the direction. Crucially, they ensure the signal from the Head is interpreted correctly and sent in the proper order before the teachers teach or the muscles move. If the nerves are severed or send a garbled message, the limb is paralyzed or spasms out of control. They have a specific, weighty function of foundation and alignment that precedes other functions.
The Skeleton (Teachers): The rigid structure. Once the correct signal is received, they provide the framework. Without the bones of sound doctrine, the body is just a puddle of organic matter on the floor. They make sure we stand upright according to the design.
The Circulatory System (Pastors & Evangelists): The heart and the veins. They ensure the life-blood reaches the furthest extremities. They keep the oxygen flowing so the tissue doesn't die while it works.
The Musculature & Cells (The Body of Believers/Gifts): This is the massive machinery. The nerves can signal "lift that box," but nerves have no strength. YOU are the muscle fiber. YOU are the gripping hand that actually does the heavy lifting based on the ordered signal.
The Hard Truth about Family and Church:
If the muscle tries to be a nerve, the body seizes.
If the bone tries to be blood, the body creates leukemia (cancer).
God’s order is not about value—it is about function.
The "Nervous System" (Leadership) carries a different authority and strict judgment because they must ensure the message is pure and ordered. But the "Muscle" (The Helps, The Givers, The Servers) carries the actual weight of the mission.
A body where everyone is an Eye is a monstrosity. A family where everyone is the Head is a two-headed disaster.
Real maturity is knowing: "I am not called to be the nervous system. I am called to be the Hands."
When we respect the order—when the nerves fire correctly, the bones align, and the muscles contract in unison—we stop being a disjointed cadaver and start being a living, breathing force that can change the world.
Stay in your vein. Respect the order. Let the Body live.
