When YHWH Laughs

The wicked smirk with lifted chin,
To cloak their rebellion deep within.
They twist the truth, accuse the just,
While calling evil a righteous trust.

They sought the elders, sought the seat,
“Let wisdom judge our matter complete.”
But when the judgment crossed their pride,
They cast all correction far aside.

Their tongues sharpened into swords of blame,
To hide their trespass and protect their name.
They slandered the one they should restore,
Then taught as though they sinned no more.

The cry of the Psalmist still remains,
Through the ages’ the witness refrains:
“The wicked plot against the right,
And gnash their teeth in rage and spite.”

Yet YHWH above does not despair,
Nor tremble at the proud man’s snare.
He laughs, not mocking grief or pain,
But vanity crowning rebellion's reign.

For wicked ones in blindness boast,
As though their sin was hidden from most.
They think delay means heaven agrees,
While judgment waits to bend their knees.

They call hard hearts “conviction strong,”
And stubborn pride “enduring wrong.”
But truth does not yield to the loud,
Nor does YHWH bow before the proud.

Repentance is not found in empty speech,
Nor teaching others what they refuse to reach.
It is to cease from their crooked ways,
To seek restoration, to mourn, to pray.

For blossoms may flourish in the sun,
Yet wither when their day is done.
So too the wicked stand for a span,
Then fade before the breath of Yah's Man.

Better the wounds of a righteous rebuke,
Than flattering lips that truth refute.
For mercy warns sinners of the falling staff,
To fear correction from Yah's angry wrath.
