We had a wonderful time last night talking with the members of the Jay Historical Society in Jay while sharing some insights into some of the hidden treasures found on the pages of IF PERFECTLY AGREEABLE. Met lots of "cousins" from C**n Hill and Santa Rosa County. Thank you society president Bobby Boutwell, Mr. and Mrs. Diamond, Vic Campbell, Jim Campbell and all the others in the historical society that were so gracious. We learned a great deal about all the work they do as a society. One thing that was so exciting to me was that they have added additional markers at C**n Hill Cemetery to help preserve the information on the old crumbling ones that have been marking the graves of the early settlers of Santa Rosa and Northwest Florida for 150 to 200 years. This picture is included in the book If Perfectly Agreeable, on page 180. I knew there was a sheet somewhere showing the names of the family members, but was unable to find it before the book went to print last September. The original list is still hidden somewhere in my study among the other mountains of family history information but while flipping through an old yellowed composition book today I found, where many years ago I had written the names safely away. For those of you who have read If Perfectly Agreeable, these people will be no strangers to you. But for anyone who hasn't read it YET, this is the family of Joel Alexander McDavid and Sabra Williams McDavid who lived in C**n Hill, Santa Rosa County, Fla. The photo identification was probably done years after the picture was taken as many of the female children have their married names listed.

This past weekend was perfect weather for a fall festival! We spent two days in Jay, FL at the home of Gene and Brenda Gabbert where each year they host the Jay Peanut Festival in memory of their daughter who died of cancer. This is the family's 25th year welcoming the region to their farm. Hundreds of vendors were on hand as we greeted about 70,000 visitors during the 2-day event. We met lots of wonderful people as we shared the hidden treasures inside the covers of IF PERFECTLY AGREEABLE! Here are a few of the highlights.
