Earlier this week we received sad news about a former National WMA of BMAA officer, Katy Nix. She recently served as the Assistant GMA Promoter. Due to respecting the privacy for her family, not a lot was put out on social media.
On Wednesday, Lane Flynt, Director of Youth Auxiliaries, sent a message to other officers.

Message from Lane:
“These are the hardest words I have ever tried to write. I’m sharing this hoping that as we gather with our churches tonight we lift this wonderful family up in our prayers. Katy had a large brain aneurysm rupture Monday evening. Which progressed to the point of her being on life support. Katy was an organ donor. Anyone who knew her would have known that. They are going through the process to donate her organs. She will be on the ventilator until Friday or Saturday for that process. Then they will take her off and she will meet her Savior. Please pray for her family. Katy has held part of my heart since I met her. I will forever love her and her heart to serve Christ. She served Him with intent. She looked for opportunities to serve Him. She will forever be one the people in my life that made me want to work harder. She was my cheerleader and I long for the day I will meet her again in eternity. May we all shine as bright as she has in such a short time on this earth.”

We are posting this now because we have several of our National youth workers, former national youth workers and our state youth workers who are grieving and are in need of our prayers.

This evening Lisa Freeman made a post that many of us would love to say but sometimes can’t find the words.

“Please keep Katy’s family in your prayers over the coming days, weeks, months.
Earlier today, they did a hero/honor walk for her because of her being an organ donor. From what I’m gathering, she was passionate about organ donation and wanted that if something happened to her and she was able to help.
Around the time of the walk, I was driving home from retreat but I started praying out loud for her family. As I was praying for peace for them, God gave me an overwhelming sense of peace for myself and reminded me that she is about to be walking with Him. She is about to literally see Jesus face to face! Wow! I got chills, honestly. I literally started picturing her walking through the field of wild flowers with the brightest light ahead of her. I could imagine her smiling as she’s walking, knowing that in a few moments, Jesus himself was going to meet her at the gates and tell her, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
You know, we talk about Jesus, his sacrifice, that this world is not our home - we are just passing through, that we will have trials in life, but when tragedy happens we are so quick to ask why or even start throwing questions at God.
Jesus literally tells us that this world is not our home, that we will have trials, but not to worry because HE has overcome the world!
Friends,
Jesus didn’t leave us here with no hope.
Jesus didn’t leave us without a way to get back to Him.
Jesus didn’t leave us without a way to feel His presence and peace!
NO!
He made a way for us when He gave His life for ours!
If you are reading this and you don’t have peace about where you’ll spend eternity, or if you never feel the peace that only comes from the Lord, please reach out to me or find someone near you who can show you the promise of God and what Jesus did for you and me.
Jesus provided a way.
Jesus loves you enough to die for you.
Jesus is waiting for you to ask Him into your life so that you can have peace and hope in the dark days.
We can have peace in a broken world, because we know this world isn’t our home.
I pray that Katy’s family has peace knowing that it’s only from our Heavenly Father.
I’m so thankful to have known Katy and been around her and her mom for the last twelve years through GMA camp and running into them at SOAR. Our first year at GMA camp in TX, we were in the dorm with them. I have no doubt where Katy is headed, if she isn’t already there. And that alone gives peace that passes all understanding.
Thank you, Jesus, for loving us enough to give your life so that we could live forever with you.
Thank you, Jesus for Heaven.
Thank you, Jesus, for your promise.
Thank you, Jesus, for peace.
God, give Katy’s family peace. While they mourn her loss here on earth, remind them of her walking with you and that it’s not a “goodbye,” yet a “see ya later.”
