Cementing Miniatures:

I did not expect to find as much content with something as simple as tabletop gaming, as I originally thought that I would. As you read this article you may start to feel bad for poor Mallory, as she has no escape from my tabletop gaming at home and as you can tell I have been talking about everything related to it not only here, but at home. Anyway, a part of this hobby is cementing together miniatures, since these miniatures come on frames that you cut the pieces out of. Since these pieces are all simply parts of the miniature, you have to use some sort of plastic cement, in order to weld the two pieces of resin together. Now, when you apply the plastic cement to the pieces properly, you create a bond between the plastics that is very hard to break.

I could not help but to think of how this bond is similar to the bond that God provides within the marital relationship. You see, God is the one who unifies two individuals (husband and wife) together, when they marry one another. Similarly to the plastic cement, God makes these two people whole, into one flesh. Consider for a moment what the Lord tells the pharisees and His disciples:

“ And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” (Matthew 19: 4-6)

Oftentimes this scripture is used solely for one discussion, divorce, and when it is limited to this discussion alone, we often fail to see the multitudes of other lessons found within what the Lord is teaching here. The one I want us to focus on is that God is the one who binds two people together, and it is through HIS binding that the marriage will remain successful. In our marriages we must seek God, as through drawing closer to God, the ones participating in the marriage draw closer to one another. As couples draw farther away from God, that's when marriages start to suffer! It would be as if someone took sandpaper to these resin miniatures, over time the bond becomes looser and will eventually be destroyed.

So please take this lesson to heart, marriages are successful and thrive when God is placed at the center of the marriage. So husbands lead your wives to HIM and wives help your husbands to maintain their connection to God. Be the spouse God desires of you, bringing both of you closer to HIM.

Amos and the Nile:
One of the many things that I love about teaching Bible classes is the fact that when you study in preparation for your class, something new seems to catch your attention. In our normal Sunday/Wednesday Bible classes at the building we have recently been covering the minor prophets. In my most recent class we covered the last two chapters of the Book of Amos and while studying for this class, something in particular jumped out at me. This was the description of the Nile given in these chapters. Now the Nile river was a pretty destructive river in the ancient world, as when the overflow of its waters came in certain years, it would destroy anything close to it. This is why in the ancient world, the Egyptians created something called Nilometers, which were structures that would measure the level of the annual flood would be lacking, sufficient, or cause destructive floods.

So why does God use the Nile to describe what will befall Israel? Well in the case of the destruction of Israel, it is very similar to the Nile’s floods. Consider for a moment the following scripture:

“The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob, “Indeed, I will never forget any of their deeds. “Because of this will not the land quake And everyone who dwells in it mourn? Indeed, all of it will rise up like the Nile, And it will be tossed about And subside like the Nile of Egypt. “It will come about in that day,” declares the Lord God, “That I will make the sun go down at noon And make the earth dark in broad daylight. “Then I will turn your festivals into mourning And all your songs into lamentation; And I will bring sackcloth on everyone’s loins And baldness on every head. And I will make it like a time of mourning for an only son, And the end of it will be like a bitter day”. (Amos 8: 7-10)

Now why does God, through Amos describe this wrath as the Nile? I have three thoughts:
Although the Nile floods annually, certain years there were flood waters that exceeded prior years, in which the destruction was much more destructive. In the case of Israel, God has sent these “floods” in the past to punish the nation, but the coming flood is different. This coming flood will thoroughly destroy the nation in a scale that had not been seen yet in their history.
With the creation of nilometers, the Egyptians could predict fairly accurately the level of flood that would befall them that year, so when a massive flood was coming, they were aware of it before it actually came. Similarly, God’s wrath is predictable since HE warned them in the Law of Moses what would happen if they became disobedient. Since they were disobedient, God’s flooding wrath should have been predicted by the people.
Lastly, in the destructive floods of the Nile, the Nile always brought with it silt deposits. These silt deposits left behind would allow for something new to grow within what was formerly devastated. My thought is that even though the nation would be destroyed, never to arise again, in its destruction would be left what was necessary for something new to grow, the spiritual Israel ( the church established by Christ).

Especially with the third thought that I had shared, I believe this is what Amos is getting at when his prophecy ends:
“In that day I will raise up the fallen booth of David, And wall up its breaches; I will also raise up its ruins And rebuild it as in the days of old; That they may possess the remnant of Edom And all the nations who are called by My name,” Declares the Lord who does this. “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “When the plowman will overtake the reaper And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; When the mountains will drip sweet wine And all the hills will be dissolved. “Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, And they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, And make gardens and eat their fruit. “I will also plant them on their land, And they will not again be rooted out from their land Which I have given them,” Says the Lord your God”. (Amos 9: 11-15)

Is Amos talking about the physical Israel here? No, as it does not fit in the description that Amos gives to us. The physical Israel is never restored as it was in the past, as God’s chosen nation. Israel never possess Edom or the nations that call upon the name of the Lord, throughout the years they have been rooted out of their land time and time again. So who fits this category? It is the church, the spiritual Israel, in which all of those who come to God (Jew and Gentile alike) can find restoration. Although the Nile represents in Amos prophecy the destruction of the physical Israel, it also represents the creation of new life emitting from Christ and His kingdom!

So why is this important for us? Well similarly to the Israel of the past we must come to understand that if we act improperly, God’s wrath is full, and predictable towards us just as it was towards Israel. Furthermore, we must understand that life following the destruction of Israel is no longer found in the physical nation nor in the Law of Moses. Instead it is found in the true Israel, the church, which God had created following the destruction of Israel!

Low Quality Wood Chipper:

This past weekend Mallory and I went to Orlando after we got off of work in order to spend the Mother’s Day Weekend with my family. While down there my Dad and I took the opportunity to clear out the overgrown trees from his neighbors yard that was crossing over into his property. The plan was to take the wood, rent a wood chipper, and mulch up all this wood, so that he could spread the mulch over the ground around his fruit trees. Now I’ll be honest, this wood chipper was not at all at the quality that it should have been, the rental guys really let us down that day. As it was not properly maintained, the mulch would clog up all the way up and down the wood chipper.

It was so bad that we would have about ten minutes of throwing wood in before we would need to unscrew the panels and dig out all of the stuck mulch, after the chipper was turned off of course. This took what should have been a morning job and made it into an all day affair. However, when I was helping to dig out the mulch on Saturday, I could not help but to think of the following scripture:

“Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them”. (Ephesians 2: 3-10)

You see the wood chipper was designed with a purpose, crafted so that it would mulch up the wood. Unfortunately, this wood chipper did not do what it was supposed to do. Similarly, we too are made and designed with a particular purpose, which is to do good works, walking in the way that God wants us to walk. Do we live up to this purpose? Hopefully we do, but if we do not, then we must change our actions to be more aligned with God’s will.

Whose Side are You On?:

When I studied the American Civil as a graduate student, there was one quote in the class that stuck with me ever since I first heard it. The quote was from Abraham Lincoln as the context was someone asked him if he believed that God was on the side of the Union during the American Civil War. President Lincoln responded by stating “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right”. A pretty powerful quote from a former President that takes a fairly common perspective and refocuses it towards the correct perspective. In our culture, I fear oftentimes many individuals take the perspective of the one who asked President Lincoln this question, they are so entrenched in their view of things that they try to fit God into a box that supports every decision that they make. Often the basis is because they personally are choosing to do the “right” thing.

This could come in many forms such as justifying sin through a personal moral code, that may take some scriptures out of context in order to justify this position. It may be that an individual, or group, crafts false doctrines, and puts on a semblance of righteousness, when it is not what God commands. Also using scriptures out of context to support these false doctrines. In either case, or any other case, people oftentimes are so focused on God being on their “side” instead of making sure that they are on HIS side.

Reader, understand that you must make sure that the positions you hold, the pursuits you have, or the life you live are in accordance to HIS will. I truly believe that many in the world will fall into the category of trying to maintain a semblance of righteousness, believing God is on their side, and when the judgement day comes they will be horrified by the outcome. Consider for a moment the Lord’s words:

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’” (Matthew 7: 15-23)

It is not those with the appearance of righteousness, but those who are behaving righteously that will be able to enter heaven. So as we continue to live this week, let us remember where our concerns ought to be. Not whether or not God is on my side, but whether or not I am on God’s side.

But We Have Nothing in Common?:

I have recently been contemplating how to approach a topic in an article that has bothered me for quite some time. Understand, what I am writing about is not a single issue within a single group, but an issue that has infected the saints in Christ’s body. The problem is an attitude of personal favoritism. One of my personal pet peeves is personal favoritism, because even though it is sinful, in my experience individuals within the church often excuse this behavior more often compared to other sins. Now before I dive into my thoughts here, understand this is not meant to call out any group, nor any individual, but what I am hoping is for myself and every reader to examine ourselves while reflecting on this issue.

So what is the issue in mind? Well, the issue is when christians will seek their own will, when it comes to relationships within the body of Christ, instead of God’s will. Some examples may be when you only talk to brethren when they can provide a certain service to you, when brethren form cliques within a local body, maybe going so far as ignoring brethren, or extending friendship to those in the world while refusing to extend friendship to brethren. Understand these are not the only examples, just examples that pop first into my head. Although the examples are varied, the underlying issue seems to be the same from brethren that act like this, the excuse being that they have nothing in common. As a side note, if you say that you have nothing in common with a brother or sister in Christ, you are failing to see the most important commonality that you have with brethren, the Lord.

James deals with this sort of inappropriate attitude as he states:

“My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in dirty clothes, and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, “You sit here in a good place,” and you say to the poor man, “You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool,” have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives? Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you and personally drag you into court? Do they not blaspheme the fair name by which you have been called? If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors”. (James 2: 1-8)

James tells us here that those make distinctions amongst themselves for reasons that do not truly matter are judges with evil matters. Why? Well lets expand on the examples I listed earlier while looking at what the Apostle Paul tells the Roman brethren:

“Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality”. (Romans 12: 9-13)

If I only interact with brethren when a service can be done, is that the same as being devoted to said brother/sister in brotherly love? If I make a clique or just outright ignore brethren, am I loving without hypocrisy? If I extend friendship to those in the world and not to my brethren, am I giving preference to my brethren in honor? If this is the case, of course I am not doing what the Apostle Paul teaches the Romans. As James says we are committing sin and not fulfilling the royal law of scripture! So please, reflect on how you treat brethren this week. If in your examination of your life, you find your actions lacking, please repent, and build up your relationships in Christ, as God desires.

Let Pattern:

Years ago when I was studying at the Danville church of Christ, in Danville Kentucky, I came across a pattern in the beginning of Genesis that I had not noticed before. This was while I was preparing to lead my first adult bible classes, as during these classes we were covering a workbook titled Jesus: Eternal God. In this book, it showed the pattern in scripture in which you find God letting something exist and immediately He would place His creation where it belongs. I won’t go over every detail in Genesis, as it is quite a long list, but I would highly recommend those who read this article to personally study it out. Some examples found in Genesis are:

“Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day”. (Genesis 1: 3-5)

“Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good”. (Genesis 1: 9-12)

“ Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.” God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good. God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” (Genesis 1: 20-22)

“Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so. God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good”. (Genesis 1: 24-25)

Notice after every time God says let, He creates something and places it exactly where it belongs. Perfectly placed according to its purpose. For example could you image light switching places with darkness? Could you imagine the land acting like the oceans or likewise the oceans acting as land? Could you imagine fish swimming in the sands of the desert, while wolves hunted in packs on the open ocean? All of these things we would think of as silly, because they were not designed for being in these hypothetical situations. Light belongs separated from darkness, land belongs separated from the waters, wolves belong on land, and fish belong in the sea. All of these things prosper just as the birds prosper in the skies!

So where does this leave man? Let us look at the final let pattern found in the creation account:

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them”. (Genesis 1: 26-27)

Understand, just as all of creation has its place, mankind also has its place. Although we dwell physically in the world, our ultimate purpose and design was to dwell with God. Notice that nothing in all of creation is like man, and that's the point. Because we are creatures that are not only physical, but have a soul that needs to dwell with God. Please understand this is the purpose of your life, to seek and serve HIM!

Faithfulness Despite the Society:

I am keenly aware that the article that I post today may be unpopular, but I truly believe that it is a message that must be said in our time. At this time, we live in a very morally broken society as the evidence of this state is all across our society. Although this will not be an end all be all list, these are a few examples that come to mind. The open acceptance of various sins such as po*******hy, various inappropriate relationships such as homosexuality or fornication, theft, lying, unjust violence, vulgarity, the open blasphemy of God, pride, etc. Now I’ll be honest, the state of our society does at times drive me to both anger and sorrow, because of the various sins present in our society and the evil being done. Although there is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1: 9-11), this does not mitigate the serious consequences that occur with a sinful society.

While looking at the society we live in, the sin present in our society, I am reminded of what we have been studying in Hosea during our Sunday/Wednesday Bible class at the South Jacksonville church of Christ. As Hosea prophesies:

“Their deeds will not allow them To return to their God. For a spirit of harlotry is within them, And they do not know the Lord. Moreover, the pride of Israel testifies against him, And Israel and Ephraim stumble in their iniquity; Judah also has stumbled with them. They will go with their flocks and herds To seek the Lord, but they will not find Him; He has withdrawn from them. They have dealt treacherously against the Lord, For they have borne illegitimate children. Now the new moon will devour them with their land. Blow the horn in Gibeah, The trumpet in Ramah. Sound an alarm at Beth-aven: “Behind you, Benjamin!” Ephraim will become a desolation in the day of rebuke; Among the tribes of Israel I declare what is sure. The princes of Judah have become like those who move a boundary; On them I will pour out My wrath like water. Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, Because he was determined to follow man’s command. Therefore I am like a moth to Ephraim And like rottenness to the house of Judah”. (Hosea 5: 4-12)

Now please do not twist my words, the United States is not a holy nation, nor is the modern state of Israel, for the church is the new Israel of this age, God’s only chosen nation (Please see the article Replacement Theology: Who Are the Chosen People of God? that I wrote for more details to this scriptural truth). However, I still think we can take some lessons about general societal evil from what Hosea prophesies to the northern Kingdom of Israel. At this point in time wickedness was throughout society, yet the people did not see the moth-like destruction that God was pouring out on them. This was because during the reign of King Jeroboam II, Israel was exceedingly prosperous despite their evil, they failed to see their impending destruction and doom because of this prosperity. Does this sound familiar? People living in a prosperous time, failing to see the evil that they partake in, resulting in the judgement of God being poured out upon them.

Let me say, I pray that this does not happen to the United States, that the citizens of our nation recognize the wickedness within our society, and respond to this wickedness with sincere repentance. However, what are christians supposed to respond to in these times? Well, someone needs to bring the message of God’s Judgement against wickedness to the people of our society, telling them how the only way to find salvation is through both repenting of their sins, and being obedient to the Gospel call. We must mimic the behavior of a contemporary of Hosea’s the prophet Isaiah:

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on listening, but do not perceive; Keep on looking, but do not understand.’ “Render the hearts of this people insensitive, Their ears dull, And their eyes dim, Otherwise they might see with their eyes, Hear with their ears, Understand with their hearts, And return and be healed.” (Isaiah 6: 8-10)

The christians response despite the potential for rejection is to go out and spread the message that Christ has entrusted His followers with. The message is for those who commit sin to repent from their sins and come to Him! Do not become discouraged in the age that we live in, instead find encouragement in the idea that God has allowed you to exist in a time such as this, to deliver HIS message to those who desperately need to hear it.

North America’s Oldest City - Pensacola:

Now believe it or not, there is quite a feud between the city of Pensacola and St. Augustine. The reasoning for this feud? Both have claimed in the past to be America’s oldest city! I was reminded of this, this past weekend as my family, my friend’s family, and I were visiting St. Augustine and went on a boat tour. During this tour, as with all tours in St. Augustine, the claim was made that St. Augustine is America’s oldest city. Now my mom gave me a look because she knew that Pensacola was, since I used to do historical tours in downtown Pensacola while I was both an undergraduate and graduate student.

The truth of the matter is, St. Augustine was settled in 1565 AD by Pedro Menendez de Aviles, Pensacola on the other hand was settled by Tristan de Luna in 1559 AD, about six years earlier. Now the feud started because although Pensacola was settled first, it was abandoned shortly after de Luna’s settlement attempt, since all of their supply ships were destroyed by a massive hurricane, leaving the settlement without food. So even though Pensacola claims to be the first city, and rightly so, St. Augustine states that they are the oldest continually inhabited settlement in North America, also rightly so.

This has led to a rivalry not only between the two cities, but historians who support either camp. So why bring this up? Well, as I chuckled remembering this feud, I was reminded of the following scripture:

“If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain”. (1 Timothy 6: 3-5)

Although in the case of the Pensacola vs. St. Augustine argument, it is not wrong to pick a side, this is not the same case with the scriptures. There are those in the world who will advocate different doctrines, teachings, or sound words that do not come from the scriptures. When one is teaching something that is not supported by the scriptures, it is the christians duty not to be misled by them. Instead we must recognize that there is only one source of truth, the scriptures, and anything that teaches what they do not teach, is not rooted in truth! So although the debate on whether or not one of these cities is the oldest city is not important, the debate on what is wrong or right has already been settled by the scriptures.

American Gumbo Pot:

As many of the readers of this page know, I used to be both a private and public school teacher. During my time as a teacher, I loved teaching students. As a teacher I covered topics such as American History, Ancient World History, and American Civics. Although I no longer teach in the public school setting, as my mother likes to say “I changed subjects in my teaching”. Now while reflecting on my past, teaching students about American History and Civics, I could not help but to remember about one lesson in particular. When talking about the people of the United States, I would often liken our population to a big pot of American Gumbo.

I have always hated the statement that we are like a melting pot, because we are not a homogenous population that is exactly identical to one another. Similarly I have hated the statement that we are a salad bowl, because as fellow countrymen, we do not rigidly hold onto our own unique cultural identities. Instead we are a lot like a pot of gumbo, because even though we have unique aspects about us, we all meld together and share the same foundational values as Americans. So why bring this up as an article for this page? Well I think the church is very similar in this regard.

What do I mean by this? Well, understand within the body of Christ, we all should have the same mindset, obeying what the scriptures state. We all change ourselves and act in accordance with what the Lord and His Apostles taught. Understand, I am not stating that we are to have some level of respect for the Lord, if it could be called that, and then turn around acting differently from what He has commanded. Instead, understand that even though we hopefully share this one identity, following the New Testament example, and using the scriptures as the standard for how we live our lives, there are some things that are different about us, that is ok.

The differences that are ok, are the different things that the Lord has given to His servants to be talented in. For example, I am not a song leader, nor would I ever likely be one, as I can not carry a tune in a bucket. That is not a part of my identity, because I am not talented like some of the men that I worship with at the South Jacksonville church of Christ, who are able to lead songs. Although I have other talents that I use in the Lord’s service, it is ok that one of them is not song leading. Just as it is ok if you are reading this article, as an individual and you are not talented in every thing that a congregation needs, in order to be worshipping the Lord properly. None of us are a one man show in the Lord’s body. Consider for a moment what the Apostle Paul teaches the Corinthians:

“For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. If they were all one member, where would the body be? But now there are many members, but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; and those members of the body which we deem less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable, whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it”. (1 Corinthians 12: 14-26)

You see, even though each one of us are a little different, according to how the Lord has distributed each talent, we all make up a functioning body. As long as we are obedient to His will, we all with our different talents, use these talents for the same foundational purpose, to serve the Lord! So please be encouraged to see what talent the Lord blessed you with and use it in His service!
