Children learn the language of their parents because their parents speak to them from the very beginning. This is not just true for English, Spanish, or German. It is true for the language of the Church.
Parents, speak the language of the Church to your children from the very beginning. Don't wait until they are in confirmation class. Don't wait until they are in Sunday school. Don’t wait until they can talk. Speak the language of the Church to your children from the very beginning.
Participate in weekly public worship while you’re holding them as infants and let them feel the rise and fall of your chest as you speak, sing, and pray. At home, hold your infant on the piano so he can feel its vibrations as you sing hymns. Say the Creed together as a family. Teach them the Lord's Prayer. Pray with them before meals and at bedtime. Speak the language of the Church to your children from the very beginning, and they will learn it.
