A Piece of Advice to church leaders.
As a church leader, don't only expect your church members to honor you. Learn to honor those who help you do the work of the kingdom.
What is honor?
Honor is when you show public appreciation to someone who has done you good. A great leader honors people. He doesn't take all the accolades for the progress and results of his ministry or church works.
He recognizes the team that works with him. I was listening to a prominent church leader in Africa. I was shocked when he said, "with or without you, I will fulfill my ministry." That was the statement of a garullous and ungrateful leader. God places people on our paths to help us do what He mandates us to do for the kingdom.
In the Bible, Jesus honored and appreciated many people in His ministry. He honored Mary for the alabaster.
[ Mark 14:3-9]. Jesus honored the widow's sacrifice who gave two small coins in the temple. We should stop all arrogant words we haul at people sitting in our churches, and contributing their meager income to support us in form of offerings and tithes. Even Jesus honored people that were seemly unimportant. Giving appreciation to people who are overlooked by society is also part of honor. Read Jesus's lifestyle to learn how to honor people irrespective of their financial status. Pastor, go back to your church, and start honoring those who are unappreciated or underappreciated. When people are recognized and honored, they feel great and it does something to their mental health and efficiency in life. Share this with your church leaders. God blessings on you henceforth!
