YESTERDAY’S MESSAGE FROM ROCKY COMMUNITY CHURCH IN HYE, TEXAS

Poor blind Bartemaeus has nothing to offer anyone, completely dependent on the kindness of strangers for everything. Dressed in rags, in the dark, no hope, no future.

This is also a picture of every person who has not turned to Jesus in faith and repentance and is still lost in their sin. Those people are spiritually blind.

Spiritual beggars are blind to their condition, to their sin, and to their ultimate condemnation, if they should die without a Savior.

Only Jesus can open their eyes; only he can help them and heal them. Until Jesus does this work, all anyone can do is sit on the side of the road begging as Jesus passes by.

SUNDAY’S SERMON: THE DISCIPLES THOUGHT THEY COULD DRINK THE CUP JESUS DRANK….

The cup and baptism each disciple would experience would be suffering.

“Can you really handle all that?” Jesus asks.

“We can,” they answered, knowing not what was to come.

We all want glory without the cross, heaven without going through Hell, but that ain’t the way of Jesus.

They will suffer like Jesus suffered, every last one of them dying for the sake of Jesus, except for John.
