We are happy to announce the launch of our Western Kansas District Mission Grants. As part of the 5% of your Mission Shares that stay in our district, we have allocated funds to go back to churches in the form of grants.

Our district administrative assistants are gathered in Topeka this week for training before the busy charge conference season. We are grateful for the faithful service of our district AAs as they serve Christ and the churches of the Great Plains Conference. We also give thanks for Zoom so those who couldn't travel still could participate.

Our annual conference theme for this year is "Serve Joyfully!" So, what does that mean for our Great Plains staff? We're sharing in our own words! Today, we introduce you to Kelsey Boster, our Western Kansas District administrative assistant.

“I'm the face of the Western Kansas District. I help support District Superintendent Zach Anderson and am a resource to the clergy and laity of our district. I wear many hats, depending on what time of year it is. I truly love my job and enjoy creating relationships with the clergy and laity — it's my favorite part of my job! I'm always just a call or email away and work hard to do the best job I can.”

New District Grants Available! We are happy to announce the launch of Western Kansas District UMC District Mission Grants. Local churches and UMC ministries in the Western Kansas District are eligible to apply for these grants. We have two deadlines each year for application. October 1st and March 15th. An email went out to all pastors and local church offices (if we have an active email for you). You can access the application at this link:

Tapley, who will retire in January after nearly 12 years as disaster response coordinator, was featured in the Salute Our Heroes segment of 13 News this week.

Today marks the beginning of a new appointment year in our churches. We welcome 3 new leaders to our district. Welcome Brenda Hogan (FE) to Scott City, Dinah Mombo (FL) to Hoisington and Great Bend Trinity, and Jim Satran (DSA) to Wakeeney-Prairie Home!

July 1 is the beginning of the appointive year in The United Methodist Church, and we'd like to extend our prayers and best wishes to the new teams of clergy and laity throughout the Great Plains. We look forward to exciting ministries and missions, and are ready to share those with the rest of Kansas and Nebraska!

And we wish continued growth to the "veteran" clergy and laity as well in the beginning of our new year!
