We remember those who answered the call not knowing if they would return. Who left behind mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, children who would grow up holding only photographs and memories. Who chose, in defining moments, to place another life above their own. No greater love than this — and yet they gave it, freely, fully, without hesitation. We ask for the courage to be worthy of what they gave us. To build a nation — and a world — that honors their memory not only with flags and flowers, but with justice, with mercy, and with lasting peace. And until that promised day when wars are no more, keep watch over those who still stand between us and the storm. With gratitude beyond words, we remember them. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

Let’s hear it one more time for Molly E. and Carolyn P. for their incredible work winning Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians awards in the essay writing contest for the theme “The Irish and the American Revolution: How the Irish affected the outcome of the American Revolution”.

We were overjoyed to celebrate their incredible achievements at our May meeting last night where they shared their thoughts and insights into all the ways the Irish helped the Colonies defeat the British during the Revolutionary War. Thank you ladies so much for a wonderful Irish History Report.

Thanks especially to our Division’s Irish Historian Pamela Griffin Hansen whose hard work in guiding all the entries from our Division could never go unnoticed. Your passion for history and dedication to getting all our essayists to the finish line continues to yield not only award winners, but incredible writing from all those you take the time to assist. We cannot praise you enough for your valuable contribution 💚💚💚

🇮🇪 On this date 110 years ago, at the GPO, Pádraig Mac Piarais read aloud the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. The words of the proclamation captured a vision too powerful to confine to the past. It stands as a living, breathing inspiration for today - to be the generation that achieves a United Ireland and a Republic with workers, families and communities at its very heart.

🇮🇪📜Many of you have spent the past few days exploring the 1926 Census of Ireland on your own - but as promised, we are very proud to share details of this very exciting event from the UK National Archives.

On Tuesday April 28th the National Archives of the UK will host an online event as part of their What's Online Series!

From your hosts: "This presentation will guide users through key search tools, browsing options, and the custom map and dashboard features, while outlining the census’s distinctive elements, bilingual forms, redesigned household questions and a universal Form A covering families, institutions and military populations. It will also highlight rich data on language, occupation, employer and agricultural acreage, and briefly describe the extensive conservation and digitisation project that enabled this landmark release.

Join Orlaith McBride, Director, National Archives, Ireland 🇮🇪and Zoë Reid, Public Services and Collection Care, National Archives, Ireland to find out how this resource supports family historians, social historians and those tracing Irish connections from across the UK. 🌳

What’s Online is a series of events delivered by our experts and special guests. This webinar will be presented on Vimeo. You do not need a Vimeo account to join an event, and can join from your browser from a laptop or mobile device. However, for the best experience we recommend using either a laptop or desktop computer."
