A leader must be an able teacher, according to the Word. Paul used the word didaktikos, meaning an able leader. But leaders also need to learn and listen from others that are of sound instruction. I like to use the acronym ALL. Able Leaders Listen.
Know what the Word really says. Learn it. Study it. Seek counsel from one's who are leaders that know the TRUE WORD of THE RISEN LORD!

Charles Spurgeon, a man whose life was characterized by both service and trial once said of suffering, “I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages.” What a beautiful picture. Unexpected and unwanted trials in our lives will crash us about, to and fro against the rocky shoreline. We will weep, wail, and gasp for air, but to our surprise, the rock on which our trials cast us is Christ.
Paul demonstrated this process this process in his own experience. Philippians 3:12-15 "Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make every effort to take hold of it. Because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not consider
myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing, I do. Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal, the prize promised by God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus. Therefore, all of you who are mature should think this way and if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this also to you. "
Embrace the life God has given you and move forward in drawing closer to Him. We can't change our past, but we can draw closer to Him each day. He is where the joy is.

Life is no fairy tale!
If you haven't read the book "Getting Over Yourself" by Christian author Jennifer Beckham. I heard her speak at a church in Mont Belvieu and her book is so awesome. These are her seven principles that serve as a roadmap to get over your "self issues". She calls them "Princess Principles".
1. Choose to act on faith, not feelings
2. Trust God's wisdom in choosing you
3. Allow God to heal the tender places in your life. (KEYWORD HERE BEING GOD!)
4. Mourn over your past one last time then never again
5. Form a new attitude based on the Truths of God
6. Step into the shoes made only for you
7. Show up and fulfill God's role for you

I'm other words, get over yourself!

POLITICALLY CORRECT NATIVITY
Politically Correct Nativity
And Joseph went up from Galilee to Bethlehem with Mary, his espoused wife, who was great with child. And she brought forth a son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn. And the angel of the Lord spoke to the shepherds and said, "I bring you tidings of great joy. Unto you is born a Savior, which is Christ the Lord."

"There's a problem with the angel," said a Pharisee who happened to be strolling by. As he explained to Joseph, angels are widely regarded as religious symbols, and the stable was on public property where such symbols were not allowed to land or even hover.

"And I have to tell you, this whole thing looks to me very much like a Nativity scene," he said sadly. "That's a no-no, too." Joseph had a bright idea. "What if I put a couple of reindeer over there near the ox and ass?" he said, eager to avoid sectarian strife.

"That would definitely help," said the Pharisee, who knew as well as anyone that whenever a savior appeared, judges usually liked to be on the safe side and surround it with deer or woodland creatures of some sort. "Just to clinch it, throw in a candy cane and a couple of elves and snowmen, too," he said. "No court can resist that."

Mary asked, "What does my son's birth have to do with snowmen?" "Snowpersons," cried a young woman, changing the subject before it veered dangerously toward religion. Off to the side of the crowd, a Philistine was painting the Nativity scene. Mary complained that she and Joseph looked too tattered and worn in the picture. "Artistic license," he said. "I've got to show the plight of the haggard homeless in a greedy, uncaring society in winter," he quipped. "We're not haggard or homeless. The inn was just full," said Mary. "Whatever," said the painter.

Two women began to argue fiercely. One said she objected to Jesus' birth "because it privileged motherhood." The other scoffed at virgin births, but said that if they encouraged more attention to diversity in family forms and the rights of single mothers, well, then, she was all for them. "I'm not a single mother," Mary started to say, but she was cut off by a third woman who insisted that swaddling clothes are a form of child abuse, since they restrict the natural movement of babies.

With the arrival of 10 child advocates, all trained to spot infant abuse and manger rash, Mary and Joseph were pushed to the edge of the crowd, where arguments were breaking out over how many reindeer (or what mix of reindeer and seasonal sprites) had to be installed to compensate for the infant's unfortunate religious character.

An older man bustled up, bowling over two merchants, who had been busy debating whether an elf is the same as a fairy and whether the elf/fairy should be shaking hands with Jesus in the crib or merely standing to the side, jumping around like a sports mascot.

"I'd hold off on the reindeer," the man said, explaining that the use of asses and oxen as picturesque backdrops for Nativity scenes carries the subliminal message of human dominance. He passed out two leaflets, one denouncing manger births as invasions of animal space, the other arguing that stables are "penned environments" where animals are incarcerated against their will. He had no opinion about elves or candy canes.

Signs declaring "Free the Bethlehem 2" began to appear, referring to the obviously exploited ass and ox. Someone said the halo on Jesus' head was elitist. Mary was exasperated. "And what about you, old mother?" she said sharply to an elderly woman. "Are you here to attack the shepherds as prison guards for excluded species, maybe to complain that singing in Latin identifies us with our Roman oppressors, or just to say that I should have skipped patriarchal religiosity and joined some dumb new-age goddess religion?"

"None of the above," said the woman, "I just wanted to tell you that the Magi are here." Sure enough, the three wise men rode up. The crowd gasped, "They're all male!" And "Not very multicultural!" "Balthasar here is black," said one of the Magi. "Yes, but how many of you are gay or disabled?" someone shouted. A committee was quickly formed to find an impoverished le***an wise-person among the halt and lame of Bethlehem.

A calm voice said, "Be of good cheer, Mary, you have done well and your son will change the world." At last, a sane person, Mary thought. She turned to see a radiant and confident female face. The woman spoke again: "There is one thing, though. Religious holidays are important, but can't we learn to celebrate them in ways that unite, not divide? For instance, instead of all this business about 'Gloria in excelsis Deo,' why not just 'Season's Greetings'?"

Mary said, "You mean my son has entered human history to deliver the message, 'Hello, it's winter'?" "That's harsh, Mary," said the woman. "Remember, your son could make it big in midwinter festivals, if he doesn't push the religion thing too far. Centuries from now, in nations yet unborn, people will give each other pricey gifts and have big office parties on his birthday. That's not chopped liver."

"Let me get back to you," Mary said.

Its the Merry Christmas season! We adopt families during this time to help them have a Merry Christmas. God has blessed us with so much!
I hope you'll consider also paying it forward to the families we are helping this Christmas as well whether it's a little or a lot.
As you know, each year we adopt families at Christmas to make those family holidays a little brighter. We want to donate $500 to at least 6 families this year. That means we need a total of $3000. If we get more donated we will help more. I have chosen 6 families I know to help. Please share this with other groups and your team as well . John Maxwell teaches, be a RIVER, not a RESERVOIR ! If you donate and need a donation letter let me know. Deadline to donate is 12/15. You can make your donations at www.paypal.me/tracyltidwell or you can send through zelle to my phone at 281 467 2577
Merry Christmas to all!!

Prayer can be showy. You've probably been in prayer gatherings where someone prays a long prayer using flowery language. Prayer is not entertainment; it's a time of fellowship with God.

I know you can pray anywhere but there is something about having a place where we pray regularly. As I grew in my new-found zeal for prayer I began to find myself really looking forward to my prayer times sensing I was really meeting with the Father. The room in which I prayed became synonymous with those times and I would go to the room expectant that I was going to meet with God. The result was that I approached my personal prayer times with faith.

Praying for a long time, using many words or repetition doesn’t mean we are more likely to get God’s attention. I really don’t know why we feel that God will hear us more clearly like that. This Scripture makes it clear that it’s not about words, length or repetition, because God knows anyway. It’s about quality—the right heart attitude, concentrating on what we’re doing, trying to live a life that doesn’t contradict our prayer life—not quantity.

Let me explain 3D praying to you. The three Ds stand for Desire, Discipline and Delight. First, and you cannot bypass this starting point, there needs to be Desire. Desire to be a person of prayer. Without that desire, nothing will ever change. You can’t force the desire, but you can ask God to plant that in you by his Spirit.

Second, it requires Discipline. Actually, you could double the D and make it daily discipline. This is the hard part, as you’ve probably already discovered. But I want to assure you that as you face the discipline it gets a lot easier; you’ll find the third D eases it considerably.

The third D is Delight. Yes, truly prayer has become a delight for me: spending time with the Father, opening up my life with its ups and downs, hearing what he has to say to me. What’s not to like! That means that I can look forward to praying; making my way towards the place where I usually pray I’m actually expectant that I’ll meet God during that time. What a change! It’s delightful.

LAdies, on the call the other night we spoke about dividing up into teams. Here are the mission statements on what the team would be responsible for. Most of these teams should be more no more than 2 people.
1. AGAPE TEAM
The mission statement on that team is to provide things that make each lady at the retreat feel special and feel the love of Jesus . This team would plan small gifts to give each lady at different times throughout the retreat such as bags, notes, small gifts.
2. The Spiritual team The mission statement is to cover each lady in prayer by name before during and after the retreat. You would pray over each lady. You would be watchful during the retreat of any lady who needed encouragement, a word or prayer and even laying on of hands. This team would also make leaders aware of situations if needed. 3. The kitchen team The mission statement for this team would be to plan healthy meals and snacks. This team would not only plan but also purchase and get all food items to the retreat before any other ladies except the leadership team would get there
4. The teaching team The mission of this team is to present their testimonies of how your life your has been an overcomer through Christ. These people on these teams will be personally picked by the leaders. 5. The music team The mission statement is to plan music and worship times during the retreat. This can include instruments, singing, listening or even playing YouTube videos or songs on YouTube . This is also the inviting time of the Holy Spirit to move throughout each individual lady. We have already had people signing up so if God has called you to any one of those teams please let me know ASAP. Thank you and I can't wait for our October retreat
