Matthew 7:23 Jesus says:
“And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” — Matthew 7:23 (KJV)
That verse used to shake me. 😳 I thought it meant you could try your hardest, believe in God, do all the church things, and somehow still miss it.
But when I slowed down and really read it, I realized something important. Jesus wasn’t talking to atheists. He was talking to religious people. People saying, *“Lord, Lord.”* People doing impressive things. Even miracles. 🙌
Just a couple verses before, they say:
“Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?” — Matthew 7:22 (KJV)
They were pointing to their performance. Their résumé. Their works.
But Jesus didn’t say, “You didn’t work hard enough.”
He didn’t say, “You didn’t do enough.”
He said, “I never knew you.”
That word “knew” isn’t about information. It’s about relationship. 🤝❤️
It’s the difference between knowing about someone and actually walking with them. Talking with them. Letting them into your real life — the good, the bad, and the messy.
For a long time, I tried to fix myself.
Tried to prove myself.
Tried to build something good enough to make up for the wreckage behind me. 🛠️
But Scripture says:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” — Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)
And Jesus also said:
“Abide in me, and I in you… for without me ye can do nothing.” — John 15:4–5 (KJV)
He’s not asking me to impress Him.
He’s asking me to **abide**.
To walk with Him.
To know Him — and let Him know me — one day at a time. 🌅
Honestly, that feels a lot like recovery.
One day at a time.
Stay connected.
Stay honest.
Keep showing up. 🙏
The point isn’t performance.
It’s relationship.
And for a girl like me who used to think she had to earn everything — that’s really, really good news. ✝️❤️
Remember, Jesus loves you.
And so do I.
See you tomorrow. 👋✨
