As we step into September, my heart is focused on Christian Education Month in our AME Church. Throughout my journey in ministry, I’ve learned that when we ground ourselves in spiritual growth and deep learning, God equips us for extraordinary things. Education isn't just about reading—it’s about empowering every member to step confidently into their purpose. How is God stretching your understanding this month?

2026 is a pivotal mid-term election year, and with critical primary elections happening right now in states across the country, our civic duty is urgently calling.

As WMS members, we are called to be Empowered to Lead far beyond the walls of the sanctuary. That means setting the standard in our neighborhoods: organizing voter registration drives, educating our congregations on local ballot issues, and helping our seniors get to the polls.

When we vote, we advocate for justice, equity, and the future of our youth.

Let’s lead the way this election season.

As schools, colleges, and universities reopen their doors this month, we surround our students, parents, teachers, and administrators in covering prayer.

Education has always been a central pillar of African Methodism and the Women’s Missionary Society. From supporting local school supply drives to sustaining our church-affiliated institutions of higher learning, we remain committed to opening doors of opportunity for our children.

A Prayer for the School Year:
Lord, grant our students wisdom, protection, and peace. Give our educators patience and strength. Empower our mothers and grandmothers as they nurture the leaders of tomorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen.

As we step into August—a season in the Christian calendar marked by intentional spiritual growth, community, and harvest—I am filled with deep gratitude for the global sisterhood of the Women’s Missionary Society.

Our mission has never been just a title or a tradition; it is a movement. Across all 20 Episcopal Districts, our strength lies in our shared commitment to answer God's call with faith, action, and love.

Throughout this month, I look forward to sharing a vision for our future together—one rooted in expanding our global relationships, empowering young women and next-generation leaders, and deepening the spiritual growth of every member across the Connection.

We are truly Anointed to Serve and Empowered to Lead.

On this International Self-Care Day, let’s share an honest, necessary truth: You cannot pour from an empty cup.

In tandem with Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, we must recognize that black and brown women in ministry frequently face unique pressures. We are often the backbones of our homes, our careers, our local communities, and our churches. But holiness does not require your exhaustion.

God’s anointing sustains us, but His wisdom also commands us to rest. Jesus Himself modeled the necessity of pulling away from the crowds to pray, center, and restore His spirit.

Taking care of your emotional, mental, and physical well-being isn't selfish—it is an act of spiritual stewardship. Put down the heavy weights today, even if just for an hour. Take a deep breath. Rest. Protect your peace. 🧘🏾‍♀️🌿

What an unforgettable, spirit-filled weekend in Montgomery at the Connectional YPD Leadership Training Institute!

From the very first note of fiery, Spirit-led worship to the high-energy Lip Sync Battle (where the talent was off the charts! 🔥🎶), the brilliance of our young people was on full display. I had the absolute joy of worshiping alongside them, breaking bread during fellowship, and popping into the Visionary Labs where our youth engaged in deep, sharp discussions about leadership, the inner workings of the YPD, and preparing for the Quadrennial in 2027.

And of course, in true YPD fashion, the friendly rivalry to see which district was the most Fired Up for Christ brought so much passion and energy to the room!

To every young person, advisor, and leader who made this weekend possible: thank you. You reminded us all that you are not just waiting for tomorrow—you are the dynamic, spirit-filled church of right now.

Watching your innovation, depth, and dedication reinforces why we must continue building bridges for your leadership. When our young women and youth are equipped with tools and given the space to lead, our entire global connection rises.

You leave Montgomery Anointed to Serve and fiercely Empowered to Lead! Keep shining, YPD! 💚🤍💙

Our Connectional WMS is a beautiful, vibrant tapestry spanning 32 countries and 4 continents. While our languages, cultures, and daily realities may look beautifully different, our anchor remains exactly the same.

Spiritual growth is amplified when we intentionally listen to, learn from, and lift the voices of our sisters in every district—both domestic and overseas. When one thrives, we all thrive. When one experiences revival, the entire Connection catches fire!

Let us continue to grow together in spirit, unity, and global impact. 🌍✝️

Today, my heart joins with the entire global Connectional Women's Missionary Society family as we gather to celebrate the life, legacy, and homegoing of a monumental woman of God, our 8th Connectional WMS President, Sister Shirley Hopkins-Davis.

Sister Shirley was not just an extraordinary leader who served our society with peerless distinction and an unmatched grace—she was also a treasured friend and a steady source of wisdom. Her life was a living blueprint of what it means to be truly anointed to serve and empowered to lead.

It is a profound honor to stand alongside our missionary sisters today at her Life Celebration, reflecting on the countless paths she paved for intergenerational leadership and global ministry. While our hearts are heavy with the earthly loss of a giant, we rejoice in knowing she has received her crown of righteousness.

Please join me in lifting her family, loved ones, and everyone who held her dear in fervent prayer. May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may her legacy continue to ignite the missionary fire across the globe. 🕊️👑💜
