The fire of the Saxons has never gone out.

It lives in those who refuse weakness. In those who keep their word. In those who stand for their kin, honor the gods, and face hardship without fear.

This is our inheritance. Not a gift, but a calling.

Stand firm.

Raise your spear.

Fate will not ignore those who avoid it. The only option is to greet your fate head on, with courage.

Seaxnēat: Ancestor and Protector of the Saxons

Among the gods and ancestral figures of the Saxons, Seaxnēat holds a special place. His name is deeply connected to the identity of the Saxon people themselves. The seax was more than a blade. It was a tool, a weapon, and a symbol of the people who carried it.

Unlike Wōden or Thunor, whose stories are preserved in greater detail, much of what we know of Seaxnēat comes through his place in Saxon tradition and royal genealogies. He stands as an ancestral figure, a link between the divine and the people who traced their origins back to him.

To honor Seaxnēat is to honor the qualities that defined the Saxon spirit: loyalty to kin, courage in adversity, protection of the community, and the responsibility to carry one’s name with honor.

The old Germanic peoples understood that ancestry was not simply about those who came before us. It was a living connection. We inherit the stories, values, and responsibilities of our forebears, and we carry them forward for those who come after us.

Seaxnēat reminds us that our traditions are not only about looking into the past. They are about how we live today.

Through kinship, honor, and remembrance, we keep the old ways alive.

Hail Seaxnēat.

Welcome to Hæwendūn Heorð

The hearth is lit.

The name Hæwendūn comes from Old English and means “Blue Mountain,” a reference to the Blue Mountain ridge of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, part of the greater Appalachian mountain range. The land around us serves as a reminder that tradition is not only carried through generations, but also rooted in the places we call home.

From the old lands of the Saxons, our ancestors carried their traditions, stories, and values across generations. Hæwendūn Heorð seeks to honor that legacy through the study, preservation, and practice of the ancestral traditions of the Continental Saxons and the wider Germanic world.

Our hearth is built upon the values of frith, kinship, honor, hospitality, and remembrance of those who came before us.

We honor the gods of our ancestors, preserve the wisdom of the old traditions, and seek to build a community rooted in fellowship, respect, and connection to the land.

Welcome to Hæwendūn.
