Friends of Harrah Memory Lane Cemetery,
Each year at Memory Lane more and more interments are cremains. To better serve the families and community of Harrah, and after a lot of research, the Board of Directors ordered six Columbaria for this purpose. These were delivered and set up in the cemetery in October 2022. This will provide an option for those interested in cremation but prefer a crematorium resting place. Earth burials for cremains, however, will remain available when preferred by patrons of Memory Lane.
Each Columbaria unit contains five levels (rows) of niches for cremains placement with each level priced according to the location of the level selected. The top two levels (1 & 2) are priced at $1,500, and the mid-levels (3 and 4) are $1,400 with the bottom level (5) is $1,300. This price will also include engraving names and dates on the doors to the niche. Choosing a Columbaria niche over earth burial for cremains will be more economical for families choosing this resting place. This choice, while providing a beautiful permanent resting place for the cremains, saves the expense of an earth burial site (presently $800.00), the cost of opening and closing a site by Central Burial, and the additional cost of a monument for the site. Each niche is designed for one or two urns for cremains. The urns size should be coordinated with our cemetery representative for sites at (405) 434-0000 when considering use of the Columbaria as a permanent resting place.
The Columbaria units are sitting on a large round cement pad for permanent stability. The units are wheelchair accessible from our driveway. A picture of the Columbaria is attached for your viewing.
Memorial Day this year will be observed at Harrah Memory Lane Cemetery from May 20 thru May 29th, 2023. Mowing and flags put out to recognize veterans will be done immediately preceding May 20th. NOTE: Following June 10th, mowing will resume and anything left on, or in the ground and not attached to a monument, or in a vase attached to the monument base will be picked up and placed in the discarded flower bin located on the grounds. It is hard to find those who will mow a cemetery and we have wonderful individuals who mow and care for the cemetery and care about its appearance. So please help by removing anything you want to keep prior to 10 June so they will not have to remove them.
Mowing and maintenance of the grounds require considerable time and expense. Memory Lane operates on the sale of site and donations only. All monies received goes for the care and upkeep of the grounds and are tax deductible for the donor. For that reason, we are enclosing a self-addressed envelope for your convenience if you are willing to help with maintenance expenses. No donation is too small and is greatly appreciated.
If you have a friend or family member who would like to receive a letter with news of the cemetery each year please provide the name and address to: Jolene Barron, 1043 Sandpiper, Harrah, Oklahoma 73045 or [email protected].
On behalf of the Harrah Memory Lane Board of Directors we appreciate your support. Thank you,
