Good morning ☀️, this is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad.

Today’s Bible Reading Joshua 1:1-1 Be Strong and Courageous

Joshua 1 TheJoshua 1 lord’s Charge to Joshua

Joshua 1:1 After the death of Moses the lord’s servant, the lord spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant. He said,

Joshua 1:2 “Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them.

Joshua 1:3 I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you—

Joshua 1:4 from the Negev wilderness in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north, from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west, including all the land of the Hittites.’

Joshua 1:5 No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.

Joshua 1:6 “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.

Joshua 1:7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

Joshua 1:8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

Joshua 1:9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1 Joshua’s Charge to the Israelites

Joshua 1:10 Joshua then commanded the officers of Israel,

Joshua 1:11 “Go through the camp and tell the people to get their provisions ready. In three days you will cross the Jordan River and take possession of the land the lord your God is giving you.”

Today’s Bible Reading God’s Promised Rest Hebrews 4:1-11

Hebrews 4 Promised Rest for God’s People

Hebrews 4:1 God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it.

Hebrews 4:2 For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God.

Hebrews 4:3 For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said, “In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest,’”even though this rest has been ready since he made the world.

Hebrews 4:4 We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.”

Hebrews 4:5 But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.”

Hebrews 4:6 So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God.

Hebrews 4:7 So God set another time for entering his rest, and that time is today. God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.”

Hebrews 4:8 Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come.

Hebrews 4:9 So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.

Hebrews 4:10 For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world.

Hebrews 4:11 So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.
