Paul described Jesus as humble and free of pride. Paul showed how he followed Jesusʼ example in his work as an apostle. Paul was very humble as he worked among the Corinthian believers. He was so humble that many thought he was shy. But others thought that he bragged about how his authority as an apostle came from Jesus. Paul made it clear that he wasnʼt full of pride about himself or his work. He only bragged about the work God did. Paul was completely sure about the work God had given him to do. He was to serve others by preaching the good news and helping people know God. Anything that keeps people from knowing God is the enemy of God. Paul dealt with these enemies when he preached, taught and wrote his letters. His words and the way he lived helped show people the truth about God. He boldly corrected the Corinthian believers. He corrected them when they did things that went against how God wanted them to live. He did this to help them be completely committed to following Jesus.

2 Corinthians 10:1-18
Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away!— I beg of you that when I am present I may not have to show boldness with such confidence as I count on showing against some who suspect us of walking according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. Look at what is before your eyes. If anyone is confident that he is Christ’s, let him remind himself that just as he is Christ’s, so also are we. For even if I boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be ashamed. I do not want to appear to be frightening you with my letters. For they say, “His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account.” Let such a person understand that what we say by letter when absent, we do when present. Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding. But we will not boast beyond limits, but will boast only with regard to the area of influence God assigned to us, to reach even to you. For we are not overextending ourselves, as though we did not reach you. For we were the first to come all the way to you with the gospel of Christ. We do not boast beyond limit in the labors of others. But our hope is that as your faith increases, our area of influence among you may be greatly enlarged, so that we may preach the gospel in lands beyond you, without boasting of work already done in another’s area of influence. “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

As we navigate life's challenges and criticisms, rather than letting malice consume us, we can opt for a path illuminated by trust, knowing the Lord's wisdom will bring the wicked to justice.

Grudges, or carrying ill will towards others are an anathema to all true believers. Perhaps the aptest quotation on the matter that sums this up is "grudges are like swallowing poison and hoping your enemy dies from it". For harboring such feelings towards one's neighbors, one ultimately only injures oneself in the long term, and it would be better rather, in following in Christ's example to pray for forgiveness or turn the other cheek towards one's enemies. In this way, we show true courage and compassion, in a manner that pleases the Lord.

Here's a simple reminder we have to surrender daily to our flesh

1 Corinthians 15:31 I protest, brothers, by my pride in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die every day!

Good morning brother and sisters in Christ let's take a moment and reflect on the simple promise that God has given us he is alive in our hearts and let's be bold enough to spread the message instead of taking a moment and swiping past and blocking it out of our memories.

It took a lot for the apostles to believe that Jesus was alive. Each of the evangelists tells a different version of that first day of the week, but the one thing they all agree on is the difficulty they had in believing. In Mark's version, the women who had first gone to the tomb didn't tell them what they had found. Mary Magdalen had told them that she had seen him, but they didn't believe her. Were the two that he had appeared to as they were walking into the country the same two that were heading for Emmaus in Luke's version? There's no way of knowing, but maybe. In John's version, Thomas isn't there when Jesus appears to them the first time and insists that he will need to touch his wounds before he believes. It's hard to know why they had such a hard time believing, but would you or I be any different? In one sense, we have to believe without seeing. We believe because of what others have told us. We choose to believe because we see the evidence of God working in our lives. We believe the promise; the promise that began in the Garden of Eden and renewed in the Garden of Gethsemane, and finalized on the cross. In John's version, Jesus tells Thomas, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed." We are blessed by Jesus because we believe.

Jesus taught that an unforgiving spirit toward someone who has wronged us, or we think has wronged us, can hinder our prayers. It is better to go and be reconciled with your brother or sister in Christ and pray later than to pray to God while bitterness is brewing in your heart.

The Lord delights in love, justice, and righteousness. He reveals his love and compassion, his holy justice, and his ability to impute and infuse righteousness in his dealings with men in this world. This is his glory, and to know the Lord and his work is far greater than any of the vain things men typically boast about.

1. The "E-G-O" Trap (Edging God Out): When you feel the need to demand recognition or control, remember that pride comes before destruction (Proverbs 16:18).Reflection: Is my current ambition driven by a desire for God's glory or my own? Action: Actively surrender a desire for recognition to God today.
