What Got Us Here Won’t Get Us There

Marshall Goldsmith famously wrote, “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There.” As The Well enters a new season, that statement speaks directly to where we are. We are grateful for the space, resources, and people God has used to bring us this far, but we also recognize that where God is taking us will require something more.

Scripture reminds us in Isaiah 43:18–19, “Remember ye not the former things… Behold, I will do a new thing.” We honor what God has done, while making room for what He wants to do next.

Beginning September 1, we are launching a three-month giving campaign to position The Well for our next church location. We are looking for 30 people to commit to giving $200 per month for September, October, and November.

That’s 30 people. $200 a month. 3 months. $18,000 toward what’s next.

This is about more than another building. It is about making room for more people, more ministry, more outreach, more families, and greater impact.

What got us here won’t get us there. We believe God is doing a new thing, and together, we’re preparing for where He is taking us next.

🔥 TODAY’S MESSAGE: “ALL I NEED IS…” 🔥
đź“– Philippians 4:19
🎤 Minister Lamont Crumpler

As our young people prepare to head back to school, today’s message gave us a powerful reminder about needs, wants, and knowing where our supply comes from.

When we think about going back to school, we immediately think about school supplies—backpacks, pencils, notebooks, folders, calculators, and everything students need to be prepared for the classroom.

But Minister Lamont reminded us that sometimes we put things on our personal “supply list” that God never called a need.

✏️ Check what you call a need.
A need is something necessary. Everything we desire doesn’t deserve the title need. There is a difference between something we want and something we truly cannot do without.

📓 Don’t compromise trying to get something you think you need.
You don’t need everybody to like you. You don’t need everyone’s approval. And you should never abandon your convictions just to fit in, be accepted, or keep people around.

🎒 Stop begging people to supply what only God can provide.
People may be resources, but they are not our Source.

Philippians 4:19 declares, “My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Just like students have a supply list for school, there are some supplies we all need for life:

🙏🏾 When you need peace, God supplies it.
💪🏾 When you need strength, God supplies it.
🧭 When you need direction, God supplies it.
❤️ When you need love, God supplies it.
🕊️ When you need grace, God supplies it.

And ultimately, Jesus is the supply.

So as our youth pack their backpacks with everything they need for another school year, we pray they remember this:

You can have every school supply on the list, but the greatest thing you can carry with you is the confidence that God is your Source.

Know what you need.
Know where your supply comes from.
Know your Supplier.

And when everything else runs out, remember:

🙌🏾 ALL I NEED IS JESUS.

🔥 TODAY’S MESSAGE: “I HAVE AN APPETITE, BUT MY APPETITE DOESN’T HAVE ME.” 🔥
📖 Matthew 4:1–11

Today we continued our conversation about APPETITE by looking at Jesus in the wilderness.

After fasting for 40 days, Jesus was hungry. His hunger was real—but His hunger did not have authority over Him.

That’s the lesson: Having an appetite isn’t the problem. The problem is when our appetite starts making our decisions.

The enemy tempted Jesus in three areas:

🍞 The appetite for satisfaction — “Turn these stones into bread.”
Sometimes the temptation isn’t to do something inherently wrong—it’s to satisfy a legitimate desire in an illegitimate way.

👏🏾 The appetite for validation — “If You are the Son of God…”
Jesus didn’t have to prove what the Father had already pronounced. Some of our strongest appetites aren’t in our stomach—they’re in our ego.

👑 The appetite for advancement — “All these things will I give You…”
The enemy offered Jesus a shortcut to something He was already destined to receive. But Jesus refused to compromise His worship to accelerate His destiny.

And every time the enemy spoke, Jesus responded:

“IT IS WRITTEN.”
