We are aware of the leak at Orchard Drive. It is located next to gas lines. We placed a locate request late last week. Repairs will proceed once we have the response.

08/25/2026

The PSD offices will be closed today, Tuesday, August 25, due to a family medical emergency. We anticipate reopening for regular hours tomorrow.

Thank you for your patience.

The boil water advisory for Sand Ridge, Sassafras Ridge, Big Run, and Russet has been lifted. No part of our system remains on boil water.

08/12/2026

Power has been restored to the Sand Ridge pump house and pressure restored on that segment of the system.

There is a boil water advisory for customers on or along the following roads: Sand Ridge Road east of the Sand Ridge pump house, Big Run-Sassafras Ridge Road, and Russet Road.

Automated telephone calls and text messages for subscribed customers on the impacted part of the system are going out as we speak. If you would like to subscribe to such calls or texts, please contact the office during business hours and we would be happy to provide you a sign up form.

Thank you for your patience.

Due to the ongoing power outage we ask that people conserve water in the coming hours. MonPower has provided a tentative time to restore power at our Philips Run and Mount Zion puming stations of 6PM.

The Sand Ridge tank currently has 1 foot of water in the tank. It is likely that the Sassafras Ridge and Russet Road extension will lose pressure and require a boil water advisory before power is restored to the pumping stations.

Please conserve water and we may be able to maintain pressure in the rest of the system.

08/06/2026

Please conserve water for the next few hours.

The Town of Grantsville is Mount Zion PSD's sole source of water. Due to a leak on the Grantsville system, we have no way to add more water to the Mount Zion system. Town expects service to be restored in about three hours.

We have a fair amount in the tanks yet. With a little restraint, we won't run out.

So, please, if you need to take a shower, wash a car, do a load of laundry, or do anything else that requires a lot of water, if you could put it off for a few hours, it would be better for everyone on the system.

We are aware of the leak at the Arnoldsburg Y. The recent leak near Bee Fork caused pressure cycles that exacerbated a very small but very visible leak.

This leak is currently our second priority to repair after a larger leak that is not visible from the road.

The leak at the Y will be a difficult repair. We are currently working with our engineering firm, Rural Water, the WVU Extension Office, and others to determine the best way to proceed with the repair. The leak at Bee Fork showed us that our as-built drawings for this stretch have major errors. Additionally, the location at the road means that the moment we begin the repair we are committed to see it through swiftly.

The boil water advisory has been lifted.

07/27/2026

Until further notice, the entire system, except Philips Run, remains under a boil water advisory. We cannot lift this advisory until we receive test results showing the system is clear of contamination.

We await the all clear as anxiously as any other customer of the system.

07/21/2026

Water service has been restored to our entire system. We recommend flushing your household plumbing and cleaning your aerators as described in our previous post.

Expect turbidity (a cloudy appearance) from the water at first due to air mixed with the water. This will disappear in the coming hours.

The entire system is under a boil water advisory EXCEPT Philips Run. Calls will be going out shortly.

Thank you all so much for your patience and assistance.
