Advent Day 4

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Titus 2:11-14

The unmerited, extravagant, life transforming grace of the Father has been lavished upon us in the person of Jesus. According to Ephesians 2:7, it will take all of eternity to unwrap and enjoy the wonders of the Father's grace. Swim in the ocean, savor the taste, treasure the Gift during Advent....You can't help but be changed..

Advent Day 3

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
Philippians 3:20-21

Wow! A great text this is! What is it saying?

-Our true citizenship is in another realm
-We are waiting for Someone, just like Simeon awaited the arrival of Israel's messiah
-Jesus will come from heaven (the realm of God)
-At His coming, our "lowly bodies" will get a massive upgrade
-His power to do this is all encompassing

If you haven't smiled yet today, let this text change your face...
Jesus has come...and is coming!! Happy Advent

Advent Day 2

17 The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. Revelation 22:17

Jesus has come and is coming. He freely offers His superior life to those who would take it. What about you? Do you desire a superior kind of life that is not defined by material wealth, power, or prestige? Are you willing to admit your need so that you might experience life the way God designed it? Are you thirsty? ..... Happy Advent!

Advent Day 1

Read this text and ponder...

For centuries, the Jewish people studied the scriptures and awaited the appearing of the Messiah.

Yet, when Jesus is presented at the temple, only two people recognize Him. Simeon, a godly and devout man,
and Anna, a prophetess and a widow who spent all of her time in the temple fasting and praying.

Obviously, no one was looking for a child in the temple that day, as the fulfillment of messianic expectation
and hope. But how did Simeon and Anna know who He was?

Hmmm...thinking....

Jesus Presented at the Temple

22 And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”) 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.” 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, 28 he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,

29 “Lord, now you are letting your servant[e] depart in peace,
according to your word;
30 for my eyes have seen your salvation
31 that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.”
33 And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed 35 (and a sword will pierce through yo

Today's Scripture Reading:

A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. The spirit of the Lord shall rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
His delight shall be in the fear of the Lord.

He shall not judge by what His eyes see, or decide by what His ears hear; but with righteousness He shall judge the poor.

Isaiah 11:1-4a
