I was watching some children play with blocks. Both were building something and were very focused on what they were doing. As it is with children and blocks, it wasn’t long before what they were building fell. One child started crying, got angry, and threw the blocks in frustration. The other child just started building again.
I have found that to be the case in adults as well. We do our best to build our lives, but at some point, it seems to come crashing down all around us. Sometimes it is because of something out of our control, and sometimes it is our stupid mistakes. When it happens some will become angry, frustrated, and stuck in their emotions and pain of the collapse. Others with God’s help will pick up the pieces and start building again. Forgiveness, restoration, healing, and peace are available every day. All we have to do is accept them, give them, and start building anew. Now back to the children. I reached down and comforted the upset child and started helping them build something else. They quickly became happy and productive again. Perhaps when you see someone’s blocks fall you could lend a helping hand.
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Philippians 2:4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Philippians 3:13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.
James 1:2-4 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
