With a Broken Heart, we Say Goodbye to our Dear Friend, Pastor & Professor David Poeana
This morning we woke up to news that is almost impossible to comprehend. My heart is deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of my dear friend, Pastor and Professor David Poiana, who went home to be with the Lord this morning.
I still find it hard to believe.
Brother David was much more than a pastor and professor. He was a man who truly loved God, loved people, and poured his life into raising, teaching, encouraging, and preparing servants for the Kingdom of God. So many pastors, ministers, and believers were shaped by his teaching, his wisdom, and his example.
I will always remember his warmth, his friendship, and the special love he had for Dallas and for the Romanian community here. Every time we were together, there was joy, fellowship, and a shared passion for the work of God.
Only recently, he had completed the remodeling of Maranatha Church, and he was so excited about the dedication of the building planned for early September. He spoke with joy and anticipation about what God was doing. It is heartbreaking to realize that instead of celebrating that dedication together, we are now mourning his sudden departure.
Life can change in a moment.
Today, my heart goes especially to his beloved wife, Sister Estera. I cannot imagine the pain of losing your husband so unexpectedly. We are praying that the Lord will hold her close, strengthen her, and carry her through these very difficult days.
We are also praying for the entire Poiana family, for his brothers and sisters, and for the whole Maranatha Church family, who have lost a pastor, a teacher, a spiritual father, and a dear friend.
Brother David, you will be deeply missed. Your voice may be silent here on earth, but the seeds you planted in so many lives will continue to bear fruit for generations.
You loved the Lord. You served Him faithfully. You finished your race.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Until we meet again in the presence of Jesus, rest in the arms of the One you loved and served all your life.
Our hearts are broken, but our hope remains in Christ.
