The 2022 Altar Walk
“Until We Meet Again”
Hola Niles,
The original thought or idea for what has become The Niles Altar Walk~
Upon reflexión, the plan was to encourage our community to come together in celebration for our departed, our ancestors in the Latin tradition of Día de los Muertos. Then in 2020 the pandemic struck, and we were devastated to see so much loss, as it was
unimaginable. This past year, we were praying more than ever that we could bring our Niles Altar Walk back to remember all of those Beautiful Souls that we have lost in the past few years as we are all still struggling with grief. We had to make this happen & we’re bringing the Niles Altar Walk back, & also celebrating our 10th year. We hope to bring some peace & closure by hosting The Niles Version of Dia De Los Muertos for anyone who is willing to participate. If you would like to participate, please send us an email of the following:

The Community created altars dedicated to their departed, our ancestors on November 1st (& 2nd for some). Locals were encouraged to have their altar be in a public place on their property. It has since, grown and has been hosted in past years in the Niles Plaza to accommodate more and more attendees to our growing event. There will be an Arts & crafts station, Delicious food, Aztec dancers along with Beautiful Altars created with love for Dearly Departed Loved Ones. A FREE Celebration TOGETHER
The importance of keeping the commerce separate helped our crew of volunteers keep the eye on the ball… Which was to show respect, Committed to the sacredness for the celebration of life. Nothing is more precious than a Beautiful life to be remembered & celebrated
Attendees came to a central location to add their altars to the place that Niles loves to gather the most….THE NILES PLAZA. It has become the centerpiece of our Beautiful little town over the past years & is the Heart of Niles. It gives everyone a place to gather as we celebrate our 10th year of The Niles Altar Walk
What became the Niles Altar Walk is because the community realized a fundamental need to bond:
By recognizing our roots we discover how deeply we intersect. We have demonstrated Deep Respect within the community

The Question becomes:
While our world struggles together with the pandemic can we come together with safety and care for each other? Please respect every Altar creator’s space, please do not touch the Altar/Offerenda items,
And enjoy our 1st year back since the pandemic. Please consider placing a tribute, creating an ‘Ofrenda’ for this year‘s Niles Altar Walk 2022. We welcome our seasoned Attendees & new Attendees to create an Altar in the memory of your loved ones that have passed, On Sunday, November 6th 2022
Join together Safely
By taking a walk down to the plaza to see all the Beautiful Altar Tributes & Get to re-know some of your neighbors, you’ll learn about LOCAL HISTORY the old fashioned way!
