TOMORROW! Saturday, August 29th, come to Mass a little bit early, and you can enjoy original music written by Stephen R. Fox, a local composer who has a long history with Good Shepherd. We also have a special guest cantor, Callie Christina Rodgers, who has served our church many times. Looking forward to praying with you, Saturday at 4:00!

Here's some more info about Mr. Fox and the songs we will be sharing tomorrow:

Steve Fox is the composer of the three original songs sung before Mass and one after Communion. He and his wife, Yvonne, were married at the Good Shepherd Church on Wapping St. 49 years ago. They are currently members of Annunciation Parish in Shelbyville. Steve is a veteran of the Vietnam War and was employed by the state of Kentucky for 27 years in Frankfort and later Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond for 15 years. He is also a friend of Deacon Tom Snyder-- they worked together in the same state government department.

The four songs performed Saturday are from a collection of songs that Steve composed over 50 years ago. The songs had been tucked away in a piano bench until Tim Mallard, Good Shepherd's Liturgy and Music Coordinator, took an interest in the music and began arranging the compositions. Tim continues to work on arranging additional songs.

Congratulations to Piper N. and Annie O. , recipients of the John and Shirley Noel Scholarship this year. And thank you to Mr. Jeff Noel who represented his family and presented the awards. John Noel was a Good Shepherd alum and Shirley was a teacher at Good Shepherd and believed in the value of a Catholic education. The scholarship is awarded each year, in their memory, to GSS middle school students who have excelled academically.

The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry feeds the hungry twice a week! We are looking for more parishioners who want to help us help others!
The Thrift Store is open three days a week and can also always use volunteers.
Drop by one day or check out the website for more info on the many ways you can get involved in this ministry to our neighbors in need.
