*THE LIVING AND ACTIVE WORD*

_*📖For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).*_

I love the James Moffatt’s rendering of the verse above. It says, _*“For the Logos of God is a living thing, active and more cutting than any sword with double edge, penetrating to the very division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow — scrutinizing the very thoughts and conceptions of the heart.”*_ That’s the Word; it’s a living thing.

The Amplified version says, “It’s living and active”: _*“For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.”*_

Imagine inundating your spirit with the Word; it’ll have a great impact on your soul and body! When the pressures of life come, when you’re squeezed by life’s challenges, it’s the Word that’ll come forth. And God’s Word is God’s creative material; it’ll produce what it talks about.

1 Timothy 4:15 says, _*“Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.”*_ Also, Joshua 1:8 says, _*“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”*_

Instead of worrying about your health and trying to figure out every little sensation in your body; meditate onthe Word. The Word will keep you in health and safety. When you face difficulties, respond with the Word. God’sWord holds the power to change circumstances and bring life to every situation.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, thank you for the power of your living Word that abides in me. Your Word is full of power, energizing and effective, and I declare that it produces results in my life. I refuse to fear or be anxious about anything. Instead, I release your Word over every situation and circumstance, knowing it will accomplish what it talks about and bring glory to your Name. Amen.*

*THE WORD IN YOU*

_*📖Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly... (Colossians 3:16).*_

There’s something so important and beautiful that Jesus said in John 15:7, and it explains why you need to have the Word of God abundantly in you. He said, _*“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”*_ You have to abide in Him and have His Word abide in you. That’s what fortifies you against the troubles and adversities of life.

It brings to mind what He said in John 8:31, _*“…If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.”*_ It’s about abiding or continuing in His Word, doing the Word, never giving up. But if you don’t know His words, how can they abide in you? You’ve got to hear them, learn them, study them, and keep them in you.

And here’s the beautiful result of having the Word abide in you: _*“…ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you”*_ (John 15:7). The word translated “ask” here is ‘aiteo,’ which means “to call or require.” So, itmeans to call up or call forth what you desire. The phrase “be done” comes from the Greek word “ginomai,” meaning to come into being.

The Lord Jesus is saying, “If my words abide in you, you shall call whatever you think about, whatever you require, and it will come into being.” That’s powerful! It makes spiritual sense because if God’s Word is abundant in you, why should you beg for anything? God’s Word is the creator of all things.

The Bible says, _*“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made”*_ (John 1:1-3). If all things were made by the Word, and that Word is in you, why not release the Word instead of begging? Call forth what you desire, and it will manifest; it will leap into reality! So, heap up the Word in you and it’ll cause you to triumph in life.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, thank you for the power of your Word at work in me. Your Word is in my heart and on my lips. Even now, I call forth my desires; your Word on my lips creates realities. All things work together for my good, and I live a victorious, fulfilled life because I walk in the light of your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*GOD’S ONE AND ONLY*

_*📖No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him (John 1:18).*_

What we just read provides one of the most extraordinary expressions of the Son of God. It emphasizes that no one has seen God face to face, which is a significant point. Then it refers to Jesus as the “only begotten Son.” The Greek term used for begottenis “Monogenēs,” which means the one and only or one ofa kind, unique, with no other like Him. Jesus is described here as the only born Son of the Father.

But then we see something extraordinary about His mission, what He was born to do, in our theme verse: He came to make the Father known: _*“No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”*_ The word declared is from the Greek “exēgeomai” which means that Jesus, God’s born-Son, came to rehearse God to men. He came to show us what God is like in human form. He came to declare and act out the nature of God.

Now, think about this: the life that He had is what He’s given you (1 John 5:11-12). And the Bible says as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). So, today, He’s called the _*“...first begotten of the dead...”*_ (Revelation 1:5). This is because He heads up a new species, a new class of “Monogenēs”—people who have now been bornof God as a result of the resurrection of Jesus Christ—byvirtue of the New Birth (1 Peter 1:3).

Recall what the Bible says in 1 John 3:1, _*“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God….”*_ We’re born-sons of God: _*“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”*_ (John 1:12-13). James 1:18 says, _*“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”*_ We’re the first and the best; the one and only or one of a kind; unique. (Also read 1 Peter 2:9 AMPC). Hallelujah!

*Dear Father, thank you for the blessing of eternal life for everyone who hears and receives the message of the Gospel. Today, many will hear and understand the depth of your love and the invitation to be born again and receive the divine life as the Gospel is preached around the world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*PRAYING LIKE HIM*

_*📖And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples (Luke 11:1).*_

The Lord Jesus was so different from the religious leaders of His day and from what the people around Him were used to. Everything about Him was transcendent and awe-inspiring, including His prayer life and prayer language. His disciples, having watched Him for a while, came to Him one day and said, "Lord, teach us to pray." Now, why did they ask this?

Remember, they were Jews, and the Jews knew how to pray. The Jews prayed all the time; their entire life was centred around the temple and revolved around prayer. So, for a Jew to say "Teach us to pray," means something significant. They already prayed religiously because their religion demanded it. They prayed several times a day as a routine. But they noticed something different about Jesus; they saw that His prayers were effective. They saw results. His words had power. Something happened when Jesus spoke.

When Jesus prayed, it wasn't religious; it seemed like He was actually talking to someone who was listening. They never saw the religious leaders pray like that. And even more astonishing, it seemed as though whoever Jesus was talking to responded, as His life reflected answers to those prayers. This was what amazed the disciples, so they said, "Master, teach us to pray." Jesus taught them to pray, and they learned to pray like Him.

As you study the Gospels, the Book of Acts, and the Epistles, you discover that they indeed learned to pray like Jesus. Through their writings, they taught us to pray as Jesus taught them, and now, we also pray like Jesus and have results like Jesus. When you get to know prayer like this, you'll love to pray. You'll realize that you can actually effect changes and make things happen through prayer. Prayer becomes a powerful tool to bring God's will to pass in your life, in the lives of others and in the nations of the world.

*My prayers are powerful and effective, imbued with the authority to cause changes in my life, my family and my world. Every word I speak in prayer carries power and produces results. Thank you, Lord, for making me an agent of change, in Jesus' Name. Amen.*

How to get the best out of our daily inspirations:

*Spend some time to speak in tongues, building up yourself on your most holy faith* (Jude 1:20).

*Study the inspiration for the day, write down your thoughts and share with others too*

💫CONSCIOUSLY STAY IN THE WORD💫

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3).

To see your life go from grace to grace, make giant leaps of faith, and experience the uplifting power of God, you have to make certain decisions. The first is to surround yourself with the right information, and that can only be gotten from God’s Word.

If you’re not giving yourself to God’s Word as you should, there’ll be other information that’ll come to you, albeit, negative, to keep you from living a life of victory. Make a conscious decision to study and meditate on the Word; let the Word of God dwell in you richly. Discipline yourself to keep listening to the Word of God, day in, day out.

You might say, “It’s a busy world; how do I create the time to consistently listen to, or study the Word?” While you are dressing up in the morning getting ready for work, or even while you’re on the go, listen to a message on your device. This is one sure way to constantly bombard your mind with the Word of God so that your faith will keep growing to meet the challenges and the crises of life in the present hour.

If you stay in the word, your faith will be strong. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Perhaps you commute long distance to work every day; maximize those times. If you’re on the bus or train, put your earplugs on; shut the world out and listen to God. If you aren’t driving, get out any of our books, be it in print or digital format and study; inundate your mind with thoughts from God’s Word.

Your spirit has ears that are different from your physical ears; so, don’t stop listening to the Word. When the crises of life come, your faith will prevail; you’ll always win. Listen to, and study these materials, not just once but consistently, until the message gets into your spirit and stays. That’s what will produce the results you desire.

*CHRIST JESUS OUR SUBSTITUTE*

_*📖For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (2 Corinthians 5:21).*_

The word substitution, even though not expressly used in the Scriptures, defines and properly encapsulates what Jesus came to do. It means to replace something or someone with another, to take the place of another or to put in another one's place. Jesus being our substitute means He came to take our place so that we might take His place. How wonderful that is! No religious leader ever did that; no one ever did that for anybody, but Jesus did.

Even the Prophets prophesied about this in the Old Testament; they prophesied about the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow (1 Peter 1:11). The Prophet Isaiah, for example, tells us in Isaiah 53:4-6, _*"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. AIl we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."*_

The Prophet Isaiah saw this in a vision back in his day; it hadn't happened yet, but he spoke in the past tense because, in the mind of God, it already happened. The Bible calls Jesus the Lamb of God that was slain from the foundation of the world. Hallelujah! Notice the latter part of the 6th verse: _*"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."*_

All our sins were laid on Jesus; that's what the prophet saw—the vision of the Messiah bearing upon Himself the sins of all humanity. Read verse 8; it says, _*"He was taken from prison and from judgment...for the transgression of my people was he stricken."*_ Eventually, when Jesus came, He faced Caiaphas' judgment; He faced Pilate's judgment. Afterwards, they killed Him.

The Bible says it pleased the LORD to bruise Him, meaning it was God who gave Him up to die so His soul would be an offering for sin. His sacrifice, His substitutionary work, produced us! Think about that! No wonder we live in His Name today. We have been made His righteousness as stated in our opening text. We'll learn more in our next study.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I'm so grateful for the gift of righteousness and the new life I've received through Christ's substitutionary sacrifice. I live today in the victory of His finished work, fully conscious of my identity in Him. I walk in the light of this truth, declaring your glory and goodness to the world, in Jesus' Name. Amen.*
