JOY Church will be hosting GriefShare this Fall.

The first session will begin on October 26th and finish February 8th, 2027. The sessions are 1.5 hours long where they will show a video and then discuss it. There is also a book available that is very helpful. The hours are Mondays, 4:00-5:30 p.m.
JOY Church will also host a Surviving the Holidays on November 14th, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. This is a stand-alone session.

Rev. Steve Beard began serving as Pastor of Community Church of the Verdes in Rio Verde, Arizona, in 2025. Before coming to Rio Verde, he served congregations in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Red Bank, New Jersey.
In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Steve teaches courses on C. S. Lewis and has served as an adjunct professor of Public Speaking. He holds degrees from Whitworth University and Princeton Theological Seminary.
Steve and his wife, Julie, are the proud parents of three children—Andrew, Hannah, and Hailey—who continue to bring great joy and laughter to their lives.

Pastor Jim Rizer began serving the Lord at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church last August. Jim is passionate for helping others replace the loneliness and frustration that too often mark the road of discipleship with the joy that Jesus intends. He recently marked 32 years of ordained ministry and has served congregations in Waterloo, Iowa; Scottsdale, Arizona; and St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Jim's life verse is Romans 8:1 which serves as a constant reminder of the God's redeeming grace. Jim was blessed to meet his wife, Melissa, in 1989, and they recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. Peter was a fisherman with years of experience. He grew up fishing and knew the right way and wrong way to fish. After Jesus was done teaching the people on the shore from Peter’s boat, Jesus wanted to teach Peter something new.

When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” ~ Luke 5:4-5

Fishing was done in the dark, not in the light. The nets were already cleaned and put away. Peter didn’t expect much, but he had faith to obey Jesus even when it didn’t make sense. God doesn’t have to do things the way we expect Him to. He sometimes does things in such an extraordinary way that we have no other conclusion but know that God did it. We never need to question if we can do what God calls us to do. All we have to do is be obedient to His calling and watch the impossible become possible.

Pastor Keith Pavia is the Lead Pastor at Christ’s Church of Fountain Hills, a non-denominal Christian Church. He has been the at CCFH for 9 years and Lead for the past 6 years. Prior to CCFH, Keith was a Pastor at The Rock Church, CCV, and Parkway Christian Church. Keith serves with his wife, Dee, who is the Worship and Women’s Pastor. They have 7 Boys and 3 grandkids and Keith’s heart is for people that believe in Jesus, belong to Jesus. CCFH believes in living the Truth daily and helping others have a relationship with Jesus.
