Sometimes smiles hide pain

This picture was taken when I was seven months pregnant with my second son, while my oldest was just two and a half. I forced myself to smile for the camera, but behind the scenes, life was breaking me.

Late nights were spent waiting for my husband to come home from strip clubs and battling his co***ne addiction. I told myself I was doing the right thing by standing by him, but the truth is, I was being torn apart.
I was mentally and emotionally abused every day, yet I kept smiling through the pain because that’s what I thought I had to do.

I was told to “stand by my man.” But in the process, I lost pieces of myself.

You don’t have to live in abuse. You don’t have to hide behind a smile so the world thinks you’re okay.
It’s okay to ask for help.
It’s okay to walk away from abuse.
And it’s more than okay to choose yourself and your healing.

You don’t need to shrink to be liked.
You don’t need to have the perfect body, personality or job to be loved.
You don’t need to fake who you are to be worthy.

Love the raw, real, unfiltered version of you.
She’s powerful and she’s always been enough. 💪🏼

A moment in Time

I wanted to share this photo, a snapshot of a time when our family looked healthy.
It was a moment. A flicker of peace in the midst of chaos.

After reading my book, “Broken Beautiful “~many have asked me, “Were there any good times at all?”

The answer is yes. There were “moments”.

Moments where we laughed.
Moments where we looked normal.
Moments I clung to, because there were so few of them.

But the sad truth is~a few good moments can never justify a lifetime of pain, abuse and emotional neglect.

Sometimes, those rare memories become the very chains that keep us in a cycle of abuse~hoping, praying, believing those glimpses will return.

So yes, there were moments.
But healing came when I realized moments weren’t enough.

Love is Consistency. Love is Peace. Love is Safety. Love is NOT Fear.

Don’t stay for the memories.
You deserve a life that’s not just captured in snapshots, but lived fully, every day.~cm
